Team Sahlen excited for the Sahlen’s Sports Car Springfest at the Glen

Team Sahlen, presented by honeybeeBase.com, enters their 2nd event of the season at the Sahlen’s Sports Car Springfest at the Glen. This season marks 7 years since Sahlen’s 1st sponsored the event.  The event has become one of the 3 Major Endurance race weekends held at Watkins Glen International each year.  The capstone event is the Sahlen’s Six Hours of the Glen with the IMSA WeatherTech Series.  Sahlen’s has sponsored this event for over 18 seasons.  The 3rd event is the Sahlen’s Champyard DOG at the Glen with the Tire Rack – ChampCar Endurance Series, that is held over Memorial Day Weekend each year.

At the 1st event of the season, Team Sahlen raced with the Summit Racing – American Endurance Racing series at Pittsburgh International Raceway.  The event was a very successful event. The #42 “Pepper” Porsche Cayman, driven by Joe & Wayne Nonnamaker, secured 2nd Overall and 2nd in Class A on Saturday and then followed that up on Sunday with 1st Overall and 1st in Class A on Sunday.  The “43” Salt secured a very fine 1st in Class 4 and 3rd Overall on Saturday and backed that up on Sunday with a 3rd in Class 4.   For the weekend the team secured 1st in Class A and 3rd in Class 4.  Additionally Wayne and Will Nonnamaker secured 1st and 2nd respectively in the weekend’s Driver Points.

Drivers for the weekend will again be Joe Sahlen, Joe Nonnamaker, Wayne Nonnamaker & Will Nonnamaker.  At the most recent Pittsburgh event, Joe Sahlen secured enough laps to join the exclusive 3000 Lap Club in the Summit Racing – American Endurance Racing Series.   “Watkins Glen is my favorite track.  I have been coming here as far back as the 1970s when I came to watch the Formula 1 races here.  This track is very challenging to get right.  When you complete a great lap here you know it.  Sahlen’s is excited to again be back presenting the kickoff race weekend at the Glen.  The Sahlen’s Sports Car Springfest has become a tradition all in its own now.  And I am excited to be competing in the event and hope to be able to defend our dual OVERALL Victory from last year.”

The weekend’s events start on Friday, May 6th with Test & Tune in the morning, with practice and qualifying in the afternoon.  Saturday will dawn with an 8 hour enduro starting at 8 am.  Then Sunday will have another 8 hour enduro.  The series then will award a Weekend OVERALL 1st, 2nd and 3rd Place for the combined results from each day.
