Team Sahlen, presented by honeybeeBase.com, continues to\nremain as the top of the All-Time OVERALL Victories in the Summit Racing \u2013\nAmerican Endurance Racing Series.  This\ntotal of 20 OVERALL Victories started in 2015. \nThis marker is all the more remarkable considering that Team Sahlen did\nnot compete in the series at all in 2023. \nYet for 9 straight seasons Team Sahlen secured a victory in the\nseries.  This feat was accomplished in a\nwide variety of racer cars.  This\nincluded Team Sahlen\u2019s Porsche Cayman 2.9L equipped racer cars that the team\nhad previously raced in the IMSA Continental Tire Challenge Series. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Joe Nonnamaker recalled the 1st<\/sup> year running in\nthe Summit Racing \u2013 American Endurance Racing Series \u2013 \u201cWe took our Caymans\nstraight from the IMSA series to AER. \nThe only thing we changed was putting on a set of 200W rated tires.  The set up needed dramatically altered to\nsuit these type of tires.  And our cars\nwere lacking in downforce, considerably overweight and lacking in\nhorsepower.  But the team persevered and\nsecured OVERALL Victories by sheer force of dedication, consistent driving and\npit strategy.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next Team Sahlen campaigned and successfully won with their\n2 Porsche Caymans equipped with 3.8L engines and PDK Automatic Transmissions.  This achievement was remarkable as this was\nthe 1st<\/sup> Endurance Victory for Porsches PDK Automatic\nTransmissions.  Waye Nonnamaker remembers\nthis incredible win \u2013 \u201cNo one was quite sure what would happen over the\ncourse of a long endurance race with Porsche\u2019s PDK.  It worked quite well on the street.  Racers had put them to the test in Track Day\nEvents.  But to ask the PDK to perform\nflawlessly for hour after hour without stop was not a certainty.  And when we did accomplish the milestone, we\nwere able to do it in style securing 1st<\/sup> and 2nd<\/sup> OVERALL\non the day at the Sahlen\u2019s Springfest at the Glen.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Then the most significant racer of all, the Team\u2019s Audi R8\nGT3 Ultra was the class of Summit Racing \u2013 American Endurance Racing\nSeries.  Not only did the Audi secure\nOVERALL Victories in the series, but the R8 set lap records that still stand in\nthe series to this day.   Joe Sahlen\nshared his favorite memory of the Audi \u2013 \u201cThe R8 was just amazing to\ndrive.  And in this wonderful GT3 machine\nwas one of my best racing memories.  It\nwas at the 2021 event at the Glen, and we were sitting in 1st<\/sup> place\nwith 10 minutes to go under full race caution. \nIn 2nd<\/sup> was Random Vandal Racing\u2019s BMW.  The track was damp, and it was all that any\nof us could do to keep the racers on track. \nAnd miraculously, when the checkered flag flew, we were in 1st<\/sup>\nPlace.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In 2022, the team secured their last OVERALL Victories at\nthe Sahlen\u2019s Sports Car Springfest at the Glen. \nIn this event, Team Sahlen had entered their Porsche Cayman 3.4L to fit\ninto the series new Class 4 category.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In total, From the team\u2019s 90 series entries, the 20 OVERALL\nVictories were secured in 5 different race cars in 5 different versions of\nconfigurations.  The drivers for these\nvictories were Joe Sahlen, Joe Nonnamaker, Wayne Nonnamaker and Will\nNonnamaker.  The team also secured 4\nadditional victories for a grand total of 24 series victories.  Additionally, the team has amassed 55\npodiums, 11 pole positions and 19 fastest race laps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
