Team Sahlen, presented by\nhoneybeeBase.com, returns to Watkins Glen International with this weekend with\nthe Tire Rack \u2013 ChampCar Endurance Series. \nThe Sahlen\u2019s Champyard DOG at the Glen was not held last year due to to\nCOVID restrictions.  <\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Just 3 weeks ago, Team\nSahlen was at the Watkins Glen, racing in the Sahlen\u2019s Sports Car Springfest at\nthe Glen with the Summit Racing \u2013 American Endurance Racing series.  <\/strong>The weekend was filled with cloudy skies,\nbrisk temperatures, and frequent rain downpours.  Despite these conditions, Team Sahlen not\nonly survived but secured the OVERALL and Class 5 Victory in both Saturday\u2019s\nand Sunday\u2019s 8 Hour Enduros.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Joe Nonnamaker shared his thoughts after having just raced at Watkins Glen \u2013 \u201cWatkins Glen International is a very challenging track, with some very high speed sections.  It was really nice to be here getting in some quality laps.  This should really help this weekend with 100+ racers on track at once.  I don\u2019t expect we will see many clean laps without traffic.<\/strong>“<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2021 marks Team Sahlens\u2019 10\nyear anniversary racing in the Tire Rack \u2013 ChampCar Endurance Series.    In that time frame, the team has over 80\nentries in the series.  And the original\nracer in 2011 with the #941 \u201cCharcoal\u201d Mazda RX7.  Amazingly, Team Sahlen has entered the very\nsame car this weekend with drivers Joseph Sahlen and Jacob Grimm set to take\nturns behind the wheel of the venerable racer.<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jacob Grimm shared his\nthoughts on driving \u201cCharcoal\u201d \u2013 \u201cI never imagined 10 years ago that this\ntrusty old rotary rocket would still be turning laps around the track.  But Charcoal is not only still racing, but is\nturning laps as fast it ever did.\u201d<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, Team Sahlen\nwill be bringing back out their #942 \u201cKetchup\u201d and #943 \u201cMustard\u201d Porsche\nBoxsters.  The last time Team Sahlen\nraced in Tire Rack \u2013 ChampCar Endurance Series was at the October 2021 \u2013 14\nHour Bell Helmets enduro at Sebring. \nThis event was filled with torrential rain and sheering winds.  And after 14 hours of racing, Team Sahlen was\non the lead lap with both racers, securing 2nd<\/sup> and 3rd<\/sup>\nOverall.<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wayne Nonnamaker shared his\nthoughts from Sebring \u2013 \u201cThat was a momentous event.  To even have 1 car survive, let alone 2 in\nsuch an event was incredible. And then to place our cars on the lead lap in 2nd<\/sup>\nand 3rd<\/sup> was just amazing. \nHopefully we can have such good fortune to be in the hunt at the end of\nboth Saturday and Sunday\u2019s events.\u201d<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Drivers for the #942\n\u201cKetchup\u201d and #943 \u201cMustard\u201d will be Joe Sahlen, Joe Nonnamaker, Wayne\nNonnamaker and Will Nonnamaker.  <\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

For driver Joe Sahlen,\nWatkins Glen International is his home track, with Sahlen\u2019s Packing Co being\nlocated close by in Buffalo, New York. \nJoe shared his thoughts \u2013 \u201cIt is always fun to get to come to our home\ntrack and race.  And to be the presenting\nsponsor for the event for the 6th<\/sup> straight year makes it extra\nspecial. And personally, this weekend is extra special as my son Joseph will be\nout on track with me in the Sahlen\u2019s Champyard DOG at the Glen.\u201d<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The weekend will start on\nFriday \u2013 May 28th<\/sup>, with a \u00bd day of test day in the afternoon.  Then at 9 am Saturday morning, the 7 Hour\nEnduro will begin and conclude at 4 pm. \nAgain on Sunday, the racers will line up for a 2nd<\/sup> 7 hour\nenduro at 9 am and conclude at 4 pm.<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
