Team Sahlen,\npresented by honeybeeBase.com will be entering the  season opening Summit Racing \u2013 American\nEndurance Racing series event at Pittsburgh Race International.  The team will be entering their #43 \u201cRetro\u201d\nAudi R8 LMS GT3 Ultra in the Class 5.  The\nteam will have their sights set on racing for the OVERALL victory in both\nSaturday and Sunday\u2019s dual 8 hour enduros.  \n<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Driver Joe\nSahlen shared his thoughts in advance of the race weekend \u2013 \u201cI can\u2019t wait to get\nback behind the wheel of the Audi.  It is\ntruly a thrill to drive this GT3 racer. \nAnd to get to drive on the very challenging Pittsburgh Race International\nwill just add to the fun.  The\ncompetition in the Summit Racing \u2013 American Endurance Series is very tough,\nespecially at the front of the back to win Overall.  We are looking forward to taking on the challenge\nof both the competition and the track this weekend.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Team Sahlen\nwill also be entering their venerable #42 \u201cPepper\u201d Porsche Cayman in Class 4\nduring the weekend.  It has been almost 2\nyears since \u201cPepper\u201d last raced, and the team has been busy in the off season\nbringing the old Stuttgart racer back to life. \n<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\nDriver Joe Nonnamaker shared his thoughts on driving \u201cPepper\u201d \u2013 \u201cGetting \u201cPepper\u201d\nback on track is exciting.  It\u2019s kind of\nlike reuniting with an old friend you haven\u2019t seen in a long time.  I know that Class 4 will be very tough.  We will just have to keep ourselves focused on\nthe goal of completing each day\u2019s race, and see where that brings us at the end\nof the race.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The full driver\nlineup for this weekend\u2019s Summit Racing \u2013 American Endurance Racing event will\nbe Joe Sahlen, Joe Nonnamaker, Wayne Nonnamaker and Will Nonnamaker.  The brother duo of Wayne and Will are 18th<\/sup>\nand 26th<\/sup> respectively in All-Time Race Laps in the series.  Together this amounts to 6315 laps.  Interestingly, Teammate Joe Sahlen needs to reach\n196 laps to join the series exclusive 2500 Lap Club.  A marker with good luck could be reached at\nthis weekend\u2019s race.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Practice will\nstart in the morning of April 9th<\/sup>. \nAnd then in the afternoon will see official Qualifying to set the grid\nfor Saturday\u2019s 8 hour enduro.  The\nSaturday race will then be followed by another 8 hour enduro on Sunday.  The Summit Racing \u2013 American Endurance Racing\nseries then will crown a weekend winner in each class based on the combined\nresults of both days of long endurance racing events.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
