Friday was practice and\nqualifying.&nbsp; The team spent the morning\nworking on set up to suit the twisty Mid-Ohio course.&nbsp; In the afternoon Team Sahlen was able to get\nin some laps right after lunch before the track got crowded with the full 60+\ncar field.&nbsp; By seizing this opportunity,\nTeam Sahlen was able to place their #41 \u201cRetro\u201d Audi R8 on the Pole Position\nfor Saturday\u2019s race.&nbsp; <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"960\" height=\"958\" src=\"http:\/\/teamsahlen.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/122819132_4027697447257339_1136473040615661691_n.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1849\" srcset=\"https:\/\/teamsahlen.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/122819132_4027697447257339_1136473040615661691_n.jpg 960w, https:\/\/teamsahlen.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/122819132_4027697447257339_1136473040615661691_n-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/teamsahlen.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/122819132_4027697447257339_1136473040615661691_n-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/teamsahlen.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/122819132_4027697447257339_1136473040615661691_n-768x766.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Will Nonnamaker\nshared his thoughts after qualifying \u2013 \u201cWe worked really hard all day on the set\nup of Audi.&nbsp; I kept coming in and making\nchange after change to fine tune the R8.&nbsp;\nIn the end I feel we were able to have a race car that was not only\nfast, but good in traffic as well.&nbsp; I\nthink securing the Pole Position was just a bonus to the whole day\u2019s activities.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>On Saturday\nmorning, the warm 75 degrees of Friday made way for 33 degree\ntemperatures.&nbsp; This made for some rather\ntricky conditions for all cars on track, but most especially for the Team\nSahlen racers with the large 18\u201d tires.&nbsp;\nBoth Will and Wayne took their time at the start of the race, waiting for\nthe tires to fully come up to pressure and temperature.&nbsp; Patience paid off as soon the #41 \u201cRetro\u201d was\nin the lead at the 2 hour mark when Will handed the Audi over to Joe Sahlen.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Team Sahlen continued\nto pace the field in 1<sup>st<\/sup> and 4<sup>th<\/sup> place through the 6 hour\nmark.&nbsp; An unfortunate incident at the 6 \u00bd\nhour mark saw \u201cRetro\u201d retire from the race.&nbsp;\nThis left the charge up to the #42 \u201cSaucy\u201d Porsche Cayman GT4\/PDK.&nbsp; And to the finish, \u201cSaucy\u201d secured 3<sup>rd<\/sup>\nOVERALL and in Class 5.&nbsp; <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>After Saturday\u2019s\nrace, it was concluded that \u201cRetro\u201d would be retired for the weekend.&nbsp; With Team Sahlen\u2019s back plan of the \u201cLunatic\u201d\nPorsche Cayman GT4\/PDK haven already had a mechanical failure on Friday\u2019s Practice\nDay, there looked to be no options available.&nbsp;\nBut the Team Sahlen crew is not one to just give up, and it was soon\ndecided that the best option was to drive back to the team\u2019s shop in Canton,\nOhio (90 minutes away) to pick up the venerable \u201cSalt\u201d Porsche Cayman and run\nit on Sunday.&nbsp; The momentous effort was having\n\u201cSalt\u201d at the track and prepped for the next day\u2019s race was finally completed\nat 10:30 pm on Saturday night. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"http:\/\/teamsahlen.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_4118-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1850\" srcset=\"https:\/\/teamsahlen.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_4118-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/teamsahlen.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_4118-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/teamsahlen.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_4118-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/teamsahlen.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_4118-1536x1152.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/teamsahlen.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_4118.jpg 1632w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Sunday\u2019s 8 hour\nenduro saw the same chilly air as Saturday, but for good measure Mother Nature\nalso threw in a slightly wet track to add to the excitement.&nbsp; And to emphasize how tricky it was, there\nwere over 6 cars that spun on the pace laps, with 2 of those cars hitting the\nwall even before the Green Flag flew.&nbsp; Fortunately,\nthe veteran drivers at Team Sahlen used their many years of experience to\npersevere through the opening laps to stay clear of danger.&nbsp; <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Sunday\u2019s race\nfollowed the same pattern as Saturday\u2019s race with zero full course cautions all\nday. This led to a very fast and exciting race, with every second lost in the\npits or on track adding up in the end of day race results.&nbsp; The #42 \u201cSaucy\u201d had another solid day, securing\n1 spot better to a 2<sup>nd<\/sup> Place OVERALL and in Class 5.&nbsp; This result also netted \u201cSaucy\u201d the 2<sup>nd<\/sup>\nPlace finish for the combined weekend results.&nbsp;\nWayne Nonnamaker especially drove a strong weekend, that resulted in him\nbeing rewarded with the runner-up in most Driver Points for the combined 16\nhours of racing for the weekend.&nbsp; <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><br>\nJoe Nonnamaker shared his thoughts for the weekend \u2013 \u201cThe #42 Porsche Cayman\nGT4\/PDK ran flawlessly all weekend long.&nbsp;\nThe crew did a great job on pit stops, and Wayne was just flying on the\ntrack to bring us a solid dual podium weekend.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>#41 \u201cSalt\u201d\nPorsche Cayman had an amazing day, considering that the race car did not turn a\nlap on track until the start of Sunday\u2019s enduro.&nbsp; There was not one issue with \u201cSalt\u201d all day\nlong.&nbsp; And as the race progressed, it started\nto appear that the recently unretired racer might have a chance at the Class 3 Podium.&nbsp; Both Joe Sahlen and Will Nonnamaker continued\nto drive solid laps with zero mistakes on track.&nbsp; And as the race came down to the wire, \u201cSalt\u201d\ncame through with the 3<sup>rd<\/sup> Place Podium slot as well as 7<sup>th<\/sup>\nOVERALL for the 8 hour enduro.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"526\" height=\"526\" src=\"http:\/\/teamsahlen.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/122892038_10224022357976685_1521972534832983450_o-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1851\" srcset=\"https:\/\/teamsahlen.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/122892038_10224022357976685_1521972534832983450_o-2.jpg 526w, https:\/\/teamsahlen.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/122892038_10224022357976685_1521972534832983450_o-2-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/teamsahlen.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/122892038_10224022357976685_1521972534832983450_o-2-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 526px) 100vw, 526px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Wayne Nonnamaker\nshared his thoughts after the race \u201cThe real MVPs of the weekend was the Team Sahlen\ncrew.&nbsp; The mega effort they put in on\nSaturday night to get \u201cSalt\u201d ready to race was just amazing.&nbsp; Without their efforts, we could not have been\nable to secure 2 Podium results here on Sunday.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The next event\nfor Team Sahlen will be the Bell Racing \u2013 14 Hour Fall Classic at Sebring\nInternational Raceway.&nbsp; There are 95+\nracers entered for the Tire Rack \u2013 ChampCar Endurance Series even.&nbsp; Team Sahlen has entered their Porsche\nBoxsters for the race.&nbsp; At the most\nrecent event for the Boxsters, Team Sahlen secured 1<sup>st<\/sup> and 3<sup>rd<\/sup>\nOverall in the Tire Rack \u2013 ChampCar Endurance Series 7 hour enduro at the Pittsburgh\nInternational Race Complex. The Bell Racing 14 Hour Fall Classic will start at\n9 am on November 7<sup>th<\/sup>.&nbsp; The\nrace will conclude at 11 pm in the dark.
