Due to the concerns and restrictions of\nthe COVID-19 crisis, Team Sahlen had not been on track since December of\n2019.  Thus, it was with sincere\nenjoyment, that Team Sahlen was able to get back on track in June at the Summit\nRacing \u2013 American Endurance Racing event at Nelson Ledges Road Course<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Friday test day saw Team Sahlen\nputting laps of 4 different race cars, #943 Porsche Boxster \u201cMustard\u201d, #41 Porsche\nCayman GT4\/PDK \u201cLunatic\u201d, #42 Porsche Cayman GT4\/PDK \u201cSaucy\u201d and #43 Audi R8 GT3\nLMS Ultra \u201cRetro\u201d.  The beautiful sunny\ndays allowed the team to work through initial shake down runs as well as several\nfine tuning runs on suspension set up.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Will Nonnamaker shared his thoughts on\nthe successful test day \u2013 \u201cWe had several off season programs we were working.  And to finally be able to get out on track\nand see what the results were of the different ideas we had was very nice.  As typical with any racing development, most\nof the ideas did not work. But we learned a lot and found some areas we can\ncontinue to work on for future races during the year.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saturday\u2019s 4 hour enduro saw Team Sahlen\nstart from the front row of the grid. Very stiff competition saw Team Sahlen\nmixing it up with in the early hours of the race.  Excellent pit stops and consistent race lap\npace saw Team Sahlen emerge in 1st<\/sup> and 2nd<\/sup> OVERALL with\nan hour to go in the race. A position the team maintained as the checkered flag\nflew to minutes later.  <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Joe Nonnamaker shared his thoughts after\nthe race \u2013 \u201cI 1st<\/sup> raced at Nelson Ledges 46 years ago, when I took\nmy 1st<\/sup> driver\u2019s school in my Ford Pinto.  My fastest race lap today was something like\n20 seconds faster than I went back then. \nThat is quite a bit of difference in speed, especially on a track that\nonly takes 77 seconds to get around.  I\nreally enjoyed today\u2019s race.  It was beautiful\nblue skies, and wonderful racing on this classic road course.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a result of their 1-2 finish on\nSaturday, Team Sahlen started Sunday\u2019s 9 hour enduro on the front row of the grid.  Again, Team Sahlen faced very steep\ncompetition.  But never a team to not put\nup a challenge, Team Sahlen fought hard all day to bring the fight to the competition.  The team maximized the several yellow and red\nflag conditions to their benefit in pit strategy.  As well, the Team Sahlen crew executed super\nquick tire changes to minimize the time of the track.  At the end of the day, Team Sahlen secured 2nd<\/sup>\nand 3rd<\/sup> OVERALL.  <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wayne Nonnamaker shared his thoughts\nafter the weekend was over –  \u201cWhat a\ngreat weekend of racing.  It was really nice\nto be back on track after such a long layoff. \nThe crew did a fantastic job all weekend.  The 2 Caymans were on track for a combined 26\nhours of racing, and we didn\u2019t have one mechanical or pit stop error.  That says a lot to the preparation and dedicated\nefforts of each member of the team.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
