Team Sahlen, presented by honeybeeBase.com, will be racing this weekend at the very 1st<\/sup> Tire Rack \u2013 ChampCar Endurance Serie event at Pocono Raceway.  This event though will not be the 1st<\/sup> time for Team Sahlen driver Joe Nonnamaker racing at Pocono.  Joe 1st<\/sup> raced at the Tricky Triangle way back in 1984 in the IMSA Racing Sedan Series.  Joe was driving for RR Racing in their #22 Nissan Stanza.  Although Joe\u2019s 1st<\/sup> event netted a DNF, his 2nd<\/sup> visit a year later was much more fruitful.  In this 1985 event, A full on torrential downpour saw the track flood in some parts of the infield. Joe used all of his skills that day to secure a very fine 7th<\/sup> place in this very competitive 24 car field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Joe recounts this event from over 4 decades ago \u2013 \u201cI remember this race like it was yesterday. What looked like it would be going to be a nice day turned into a torrential downpour.  I had troubles in qualifying, so I started 23rd<\/sup>.  But as the race went along, I picked off one car at a time, and amazingly after the 25 lap race, we had risen all the way up to 7th<\/sup> place.  Of course the things are quite a bit different now.  Instead of a Front Wheel Drive Race Car \u2013 I am in a rear engine Porsche Boxster.  But still the banking is the same and you still run the track in reverse.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The #943 “Mustard” had a big incident at Mid-Ohio that completely crushed in the back of the Boxster. immediately upon coming home from the race – the crew went right to work to get the car repaired. The team was able work with Custom Auto Body of North Canton, Ohio to start the repairs. Custom Auto Body did an amazing job not only in getting the fixed very quickly, but as well as performing excellent work to ensure all suspension pick up points were 100% correct as well as aesthetically nice looking. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Will Nonnamaker shared his thoughts \u2013\u201cCustom Auto Body did an amazing job. We contacted them on the Tuesday after Mid-Ohio to start the discussions of repair. And in just a short 12 working days later, the car was back in the shop. I can’t say enough about the crew here in the shop. Andrew, Ian and Tommy all did their part to pull off this miraculous turn around!”<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saturday\u2019s 8 Hour Enduro will start 9 am and conclude at 5 pm.  Sunday\u2019s 7 Hour Enduro will start at 9 am and conclude at 4 pm.  Both events will be televised live on ChampCarLive presented by AutoZone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
