{"id":1263,"date":"2019-10-26T18:56:41","date_gmt":"2019-10-26T18:56:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/teamsahlen.com\/?p=1263"},"modified":"2019-10-26T18:56:41","modified_gmt":"2019-10-26T18:56:41","slug":"team-sahlen-season-finale-a-new-years-eve-celebration","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/teamsahlen.com\/index.php\/2019\/10\/26\/team-sahlen-season-finale-a-new-years-eve-celebration\/","title":{"rendered":"Team Sahlen season finale a New Year\u2019s Eve Celebration"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p style=\"text-align:left\"><strong>For Team Sahlen, their 2019 race\nseason ends just like it did in 2018, at Sebring International Raceway, competing\nin the Tire Rack \u2013 ChampCar Endurance Series New Year\u2019s Eve Celebration\nevent.&nbsp; <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>At last year\u2019s event, Team Sahlen\ncompeted with their venerable rotary rocket Mazda RX7s.&nbsp; The Team had success, securing the Class B\nVictory and 7<sup>th<\/sup> overall during Saturday\u2019s event. Sunday was not so\nkind as both the Mazdas retired with mechanical issues.&nbsp; At this event last year, Team Sahlen had also\nentered their EC classed \u201cSalt\u201d Porsche Cayman.&nbsp;\nThis venture was a success as not only did \u201cSalt\u201d secure 1<sup>st<\/sup>\nin the EC Class in Saturday and Sunday\u2019s races, but the team gained valuable experience\nand knowledge leading into the 2019 Tire Rack \u2013 Champ Car Endurance Series season.&nbsp; <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"604\" src=\"http:\/\/teamsahlen.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/DSC_5182_edited-1-1024x604.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1265\" srcset=\"https:\/\/teamsahlen.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/DSC_5182_edited-1-1024x604.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/teamsahlen.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/DSC_5182_edited-1-300x177.jpg 300w, https:\/\/teamsahlen.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/DSC_5182_edited-1-768x453.jpg 768w, https:\/\/teamsahlen.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/DSC_5182_edited-1.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"text-align:left\"><strong>Joe Sahlen shared his thoughts\nfrom last year\u2019s Sebring event &#8211; \u201cLast year was so much fun.&nbsp; The skies were beautiful, and the racing was\nfun.&nbsp; We entered the Porsche Cayman last year\nwith the specific focus to better understand the dynamics of the Porsche as it\nfit into the ChampCar series.&nbsp; It was\nafter this race that we decided to build 2 brand new Porsche Boxsters for the\nseries.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"text-align:left\"><strong>The 1<sup>st<\/sup> Team Sahlen\nPorsche Boxster &#8211; #942 \u201cKetchup\u201d, made the debut at the Memorial Day weekend \u2013\nSahlen\u2019s Champyard DOG at the Glen.&nbsp; The\nevent was a resounding success, as the Stuttgart racer ran without a hitch the\nentire weekend, to a 4<sup>th<\/sup> and 3<sup>rd<\/sup> place finish\nrespectively in the Sat\/Sun enduros.&nbsp; <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"text-align:left\"><strong>The next out was the grueling Nelson\nLedges 24 hours.&nbsp; At this event, Team\nSahlen focused on setting a very steady pace, that would allow the Boxster to\nmake it to the end of the race.&nbsp; This\nstrategy was successful, as the team only spent and extra 1 minute and 30\nseconds on pit lane the entire race, enroute to the Victory at this 39 year old\nevent.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Most recently the team raced with\nthe Tire Rack \u2013 ChampCar Endurance Series event at Pittsburgh International\nRaceway Complex.&nbsp; This event marked the\ndebut of the team\u2019s 2<sup>nd<\/sup> Porsche Boxster &#8211; #943 \u201cMustard\u201d.&nbsp; Another successful outing saw the team secure\n3<sup>rd<\/sup> Overall on Saturday and then improve to a 2<sup>nd<\/sup> and 3<sup>rd<\/sup>\nplace on Sunday.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"text-align:left\"><strong>Now the team is ready to finish\noff the 2019 race season on a high note, racing under sunny Florida skies, racing\nhard and hopefully competing with the front runners in the series.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"text-align:left\"><strong>Joe Nonnamaker shared his thoughts\ncoming into the weekend \u2013 \u201cAfter several races in the Boxsters, I am really\nstarting to get comfortable in the car.&nbsp; I\nam excited to get back to Sebring.&nbsp; It truly\nis one of the classic courses in not only North America, but the entire world.&nbsp; And to think that we get to race on this\ntrack just as the New Year rolls in.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"http:\/\/teamsahlen.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_5505-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1266\" srcset=\"https:\/\/teamsahlen.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_5505-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/teamsahlen.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_5505-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/teamsahlen.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_5505-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"text-align:left\"><strong>January 27<sup>th<\/sup> &#8211; Friday\nwill be an unofficial test day at Sebring for Team Sahlen.&nbsp; Then on January 28<sup>th<\/sup> &#8211; Saturday,\nthe race will go green at 9 am, with the conclusion of the 7 hour race at 4 pm.&nbsp;
