In that 1<sup>st<\/sup> event back in\n2015, Team Sahlen had entered their #941 \u201cCharcoal\u201d Mazda RX7.&nbsp; In that event the team\u2019s drivers included Joe\nSahlen, Joseph Sahlen and Joe Nonnamaker.&nbsp;\nInterestingly. at this year\u2019s event, all three drivers would be behind\nthe wheel again contesting the race.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"http:\/\/teamsahlen.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Glen-53-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-11130\" srcset=\"https:\/\/teamsahlen.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Glen-53-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/teamsahlen.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Glen-53-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/teamsahlen.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Glen-53-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/teamsahlen.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Glen-53-1536x1152.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/teamsahlen.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Glen-53.jpg 2016w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">Friday saw the skies stop raining just enough in the afternoon that Team Sahlen could get some dry practice laps on track.&nbsp; This slight reprise from constant showers allowed the team to fine tune their set up for the race.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"http:\/\/teamsahlen.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Glen-39-1-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-11116\" srcset=\"https:\/\/teamsahlen.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Glen-39-1-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/teamsahlen.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Glen-39-1-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/teamsahlen.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Glen-39-1-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/teamsahlen.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Glen-39-1-1536x1152.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/teamsahlen.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Glen-39-1.jpg 2016w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">With cool but dry skies, Team Sahlen was able to take advantage of the lack of rain and hold their 2nd Annual Glow Stick party.  Limbo Music, Cornhole, and Glow Stick Golf Cart rides around the track were the fun for the evening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"http:\/\/teamsahlen.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Glen-4-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-11081\" srcset=\"https:\/\/teamsahlen.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Glen-4-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/teamsahlen.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Glen-4-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/teamsahlen.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Glen-4-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/teamsahlen.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Glen-4-1536x1152.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/teamsahlen.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Glen-4.jpg 2016w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">Saturday dawned with more\novercast skies \u2013 spitting rain down.&nbsp; Additionally,\nthe temperature started at about 45 degrees and only rose up to about 55 for\nthe whole day.&nbsp; This meant that Team\nSahlen\u2019s drivers would have their work cut out for them to run competitive\ntimes while staying clear of danger.&nbsp; Starting\nthe Porsche Boxsters would be Joe Sahlen and Joe Nonnamaker. Both did an\nexcellent job staying out of harms way, rising up into the top 15 from the 80+\ncars entered.&nbsp; The team was very\nfortunate on the 1<sup>st<\/sup> two rounds of pit stops to be under Yellow Flag\n\/ Code 35 conditions.&nbsp; This kept both #942\n\u201cKetchup\u201d and #943 \u201cMustard\u201d near the leaders.&nbsp;\nThis allowed both cars to stay in the Top 10 pack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\" src=\"https:\/\/teamsahlen.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_0915-2-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-11186\" srcset=\"https:\/\/teamsahlen.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_0915-2-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/teamsahlen.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_0915-2-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/teamsahlen.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_0915-2-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/teamsahlen.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_0915-2-1536x1152.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/teamsahlen.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_0915-2-rotated.jpg 2016w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">As the race wound down, the team was able to stretch out their run to get a full course caution when many missed the chance for the favorable stop.&nbsp; And amazingly, as the race went back to green, Team Sahlen found themselves in the lead of the race with 90 minutes to go.&nbsp; And this was a position that the team would not relinquish, securing the OVERALL Victory. &nbsp;Additionally, the #943 &#8220;Mustard&#8221; Then at the very end to just magically slot into the lead was fantastic.&nbsp; Watkins Glen is Sahlen\u2019s home track, and it just means so much to be able to win here.&nbsp; My son Joseph is driving here this weekend and I have my grandchildren here as well.&nbsp; The drying track\nsaw a very fast pace that Team Sahlen did their best to match.&nbsp; For the #942 \u201cKetchup\u201d Entry, the Saturday\nvictory meant the Boxster would start a lap down.&nbsp; This left the honor of Team Sahlen to the #943\n\u201cMustard\u201d entry.&nbsp; Joe and Wayne\nNonnamaker took turns behind the wheel to push to the front.&nbsp; Then in the penultimate stint, the rains came\ndown, and came down hard.&nbsp; Joe Nonnamaker\nused all of his years of racing experience to muster up a fantastic pace lap\nafter lap.&nbsp; He turned some of the fastest\nlaps under the torrential downpour.&nbsp; Then\na well timed Full Course Yellow \/ Code 35 saw Team Sahlen be able to sneak into\nthe pits.&nbsp; And as the track went back\ngreen after the stop, \u201cMustard\u201d was in the Top 3.&nbsp; Not only did he keep the Boxster going straight for the full 2 hours, but his lap times brought us right up into the thick of the lead pack. I can\u2019t believe that we essentially had the same race two days in a row.&nbsp; In both events, we came out of nowhere to jump into the lead with 90 minutes to go.&nbsp; You might have 1 of these races a year.&nbsp; Even perhaps 2 in a year. The Friday, June 27<sup>th<\/sup> event will be 7 hours and then followed up on Saturday, June 28<sup>th<\/sup> with an 8 hour.
