Team Sahlen, presented by\nhoneybeeBase.com, entered the final race of the 2024 Season at the New Year\u2019s\nEve Endurance Festival at Sebring International Raceway with the Tire Rack \u2013\nChampCar Endurance Series.   Friday\nwas a great Test Day, as the team was able to get both drivers plenty of seat\ntime in the #942 \u201cKetchup\u201d Porsche Boxster. \nAdditionally, the Team shook down their 2025 ChampCar rules spec with\ntheir #943 \u201cMustard\u201d Boxster.  Much was\nlearned in that test that the team can utilize as they fine tune the set up for\nnext season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saturday\ndawned with damp conditions.  The team\ndrew the random starting position of 95th<\/sup> out of the 100\nstarters.  This meant the team would have\ntheir work cut out to get to the front of this very competitive field.  As the race started, the damp conditions transitioned\nto wet and then to soaking.  This made\nfor very difficult racing, as the track was flooded in some places, and the\nmist on the back straight made for almost blinding conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The duo\nof Joe Sahlen and Will Nonnamaker pursued on to make headway forward in each\nstint.  And soon, halfway into the race,\nthe #942 was into the Top 10 Overall.  As\nthe race proceeded forward, the many full course cautions led to some great\nfuel conservation.  This led to the team\nto take the bold strategy to skip a fuel stop at the end of the race and go\nwith driver change only.  In so doing,\nthe team avoided the 5 minute mandatory stop when taking fuel, and instead the\ncar was only stationary on pit road for 20 seconds for a driver change.  This bold strategy saw the team leap all the\nway up to 5th<\/sup> Overall at the finish of the 8 hour enduro.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Joe\nSahlen shared his thoughts after the race \u2013 \u201cThose conditions were horrendous\nout there today.  We kept out of trouble\nall day.  And then the crew came up with\nthe great strategy to skip the fuel for the last stop, and that really\ncatapulted us up the order at the end of the race.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

For\nSunday, the team had the good fortune of starting 3rd<\/sup>.  This led to the team getting out to an early\nlead.  The team continued to maintain the\ntop spot \u2013 conserving fuel to make yellow flag stops.  The team was able to continue to gap the\nfield and at the 5 hour mark had a lap and half lead on 2nd<\/sup>\nplace.  All was good with 1 hour to go\nwhen a lapped down racer spun in front of \u201cKetchup\u201d in the very fast turn one\ncausing a race ending to the team\u2019s hopes for victory.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Will Nonnamaker shared\nhis thoughts \u2013 \u201cSunday was so heart breaking.  Joe Sahlen drove an amazing race all\nday.  The crew had prepped a great car\nand our strategy was spot on.  This is\nthe breaks tough of racing. But I know the whole team will come back strong\nagain in 2025.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
