Team Sahlen, presented by honeybeeBase.com, return to\nSebring International Raceway for the 2nd<\/sup> time in a row for the Tire\nRack \u2013 ChampCar Endurance Series season finale. \nThis will be the 5th<\/sup> time the team has competed at Sebring in\nthe ChampCar series.  At last year\u2019s\nevent, the team secured the OVERALL Victory in Saturday\u2019s 8 hour enduro.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The driver lineup for Team Sahlen will be Joe Sahlen & Will\nNonnamaker in the #942 \u201cKetchup\u201d Porsche Boxster.  And in the #943 \u201cMustard\u201d will be Joe\nNonnamaker and Wayne Nonnamaker <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For Will & Wayne Nonnamaker, 2024 marks the 25 year\nanniversary for the duo\u2019s 1st<\/sup> professional victory.  This victory occurred in the Motorola Endurance\nSeries.  The Professional series was very\nsimilar to ChampCar, with modified production sports cars competing in long\nendurance races.  This 1999 race ran as\nthe prelim to the Sebring 12 Hours event.  Wayne and Will were driving a Mazda 626 in the\nTouring Class.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Will Nonnamaker recalls back to that weekend \u2013 \u201cThe race was rather strange.\u00a0 The fuel for the race was from Canada, and was formulated for cold weather, not the heat of Florida.\u00a0 Thus all the fuel was expanding immensely in the tank. Cars couldn\u2019t take fuel on pit stops.\u00a0 And there was even a car that exploded with a flame thrower out the fuel filler neck.\u00a0 The whole race went under red flag.\u00a0 We had went a lap down early on, but after the black flag we went like mad to get the lap back.\u00a0 We accomplished this and got into the lead.\u00a0 But all that hard driving caused our brakes to wear out.\u00a0 I drove the last 30 minutes on the backers, pacing to the checkered flag.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The entries for this weekend\u2019s ChampCar event are at 70+.  There are several very strong competitors that\nTeam Sahlen will face in the enduro events. \nThe team will take advantage of the Friday Practice that starts at 1 pm\nto get re-acclimated to the airport circuit. \nSaturday\u2019s 8 hour enduro & Sunday\u2019s 7 hour enduro will both start at\n9 am.  The races will be televised on\nChampCarLive.com presented by AutoZone.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n
