Team Sahlen, presented by honeybeeBase.com, entered their\nvery 1st<\/sup> Lucky Dog Racing League event at  Pitt Race. \nThe event was the \u201cDogtoberfest\u201d Halloween 7 & 8 Hour Enduro\nSpectacular.  The team moved into the\ntrack on Friday, setting up the Paddock and the Pits in preparation for the weekend\u2019s\nenduro events.  Since this was the 1st<\/sup>\ntime with the series, the team also went through tech to ensure the Porsche Boxsters\nwere cleared to race.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saturday dawned with clear blue skies with the cars on track\nfor a morning practice & qualifying session.  The team decided to put as little time as\npossible on the car in advance of the 7 hour enduro that was to start imminently.  With that short time on track, the team still\nsecured 4th<\/sup> and 5th<\/sup> OVERALL on the grid.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 7 hour race started with all cars charging hard for the\n1st<\/sup> 2 hours of the race.  The\ncompetition was fierce and tight.  Team Sahlen\nmaintained top 5 slots until the 1st<\/sup> round of pit stops\nstarted.  At that point, the team was\nable to run longer than the competition and slid into 1st<\/sup> and 2nd<\/sup>\nOverall.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The racing remained very close for the middle part of the\nrace.  Several full course cautions meant\nthat pack kept bunching up with a pace car on track.  During this period of time, the team set fastest\nrace lap working to get a gap on the competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Joe Nonnamaker shared his thoughts on Saturday \u2013 \u201cThat was great fun out there.\u00a0 I settled into a very consistent pace early on.\u00a0 The leaders were going quite fast, but soon I was able to reel them back in and get into the lead before the 1st<\/sup> pit stop.\u00a0 As I got out of the car after my 1st<\/sup> stint, I shared with the crew how much I really enjoyed my time out there in the Lucky Dog Racing League.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the last part of the race evolved, Team Sahlen found themselves\nwith a very comfortable lap and half lead. \nBut in endurance racing, nothing can be a sure thing until the checkered\nflag flies.  And for Team Sahlen this was\ntrue, as a transmission failure put the team behind the wall. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Team Sahlen crew worked hard into the evening Saturday\nto get the #942 \u201cKetchup\u201d repaired and ready to go for Sunday\u2019s 8 Hour enduro.\nWith continued beautiful blue skies, the team anticipated and hoped for a great\nrun.  The race started out very similar to\nSaturday\u2019s race.  Everyone at the front\nof the pack was running as hard as they could to get an early lead.  Team Sahlen stayed right in the thick of the\nbattle, and pitted at the 2 hour mark in 1st<\/sup> and 2nd<\/sup>\nplace.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The stress of 2 days of endurance racing started to take their\ntoll on the competition, and soon Team Sahlen found themselves with a very comfortable\n2 lap lead at the mid point of the race. \nThe team soon settled into a very comfortable pace that would decrease\nthe stress on the Porsche Boxster.  As\nthe race drew to a close, the #942 \u201cKetchup\u201d rounded the track with a 4 lap\nlead and received the checkered flag in 1st<\/sup> place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Joe Sahlen shared his thoughts after the weekend \u2013 \u201cI can\u2019t believe that we ran all day Sunday for 8 hours and the only full course caution we had was the Noon corner worker feed.\u00a0 Such long durations of green flag made for some fast paced action. \u00a0I am looking forward to our next race weekend with the Lucky Dog Racing League.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The next event for Team Sahlen will be the Sebring New Year\u2019s\nEve Classic with the Tire Rack \u2013 ChampCar Endurance Series.  The event will be an 8 hour enduro on\nSaturday, December 28th<\/sup> then followed with a 7 hour enduro on\nSunday, December 29th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
