In a return to\nthe Summit Racing \u2013 American Endurance Racing Series, Team Sahlen will be\ndebuting their newest racer in their stable \u2013 the #43 \u201cRetro\u201d Audi R8 LMS GT3<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

After acquiring\nthe Audi in June, Team Sahlen has worked methodically throughout the summer\npreparing \u201cRetro\u201d for race action.  This\nhas included a test at Nelson Ledges Road Course as well as a recent Open Test\n& Tune at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. \nAdditionally, several sessions on the team\u2019s Chassis Dyno has Audi well\nprepared for the debut event.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Joe Sahlen\nshared his excitement of the new Audi R8 racer \u2013 \u201cThe 1st<\/sup> time I got\nto see the R8 was at our Sahlen\u2019s 150th<\/sup> celebration this summer at\nthe Pierce Arrow Museum in downtown Buffalo. \nWe named this racer \u201cRetro\u201d for the throwback livery of the original Sahlen\u2019s\nlogo.  This looks like no other Sahlen\u2019s\nracer we have ever had.  I am excited to get\nbehind the wheel and have a go around Mid-Ohio.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Team Sahlen\nwill also be entering their #41 \u201cLunatic\u201d & #42 \u201cSaucy\u201d Porsche Caymans in\nthe race as well.   These Stuttgart racers\nare a great pairing for Team Sahlen, as the duo finished 1st<\/sup> and 2nd<\/sup>\nat their last Summit Racing \u2013 American Endurance Racing Series event \u2013 The Sahlen\u2019s\nSpringfest at the Glen.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

At last year\u2019s\nSummit Racing \u2013 American Endurance Racing event at Mid-Ohio race, Team Sahlen\nwas able to capture the Overall victory in Sunday\u2019s 8 hour enduro, as well as\nthe Weekend Overall Title from both Saturday & Sunday\u2019s combined results.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wayne\nNonnamaker remembers last year\u2019s race \u2013 \u201cIt was quite cold last year.  In fact, I remember that we really struggled\nto even get temperature into the tires. \nI think there might have even been some ice on the track.  Some racers even spun on the back\nstraightaway from a lack of grip. And on Street Tires, this made for some treacherous\nconditions. Hopefully this year we will see a bit warmer temperature.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are 55\nracers entered for this weekend\u2019s event. \nFriday will be a practice and qualifying sessions.  The weekend will feature an 8 \u00bd hour enduro\non both Saturday and Sunday\u2019s races. \nBoth races will start at 8 am sharp. \nIn the previous 4 years that Team Sahlen has competed at Mid-Ohio, the\nteam has secured 7 victories, in both the Summit Racing – American Endurance\nRacing Series and the World Racing League in 5 different race cars.  The team hopes to challenge again this year\nfor the top step.<\/strong>
