Team Sahlen\u2019s\nconcentrated effort to build and prepare a 2nd<\/sup> Porsche Boxster came\nto fruition at the Tire Rack \u2013 ChampCar Endurance Series\u2019 Pittsburgh Grand\nPrix.  The newest member to the racing\nfleet, \u201cMustard\u201d, had started the initial build stage just after the Sahlen\u2019s Champyard\nDOG at the Glen in May.  Throughout the\nsummer, the racer continued to be built, with only the Nelson Ledges 24 hours deviating\nthe crew\u2019s efforts.   <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

During Friday\u2019s\nTest&Tune, Team Sahlen was able to roll out \u201cMustard\u201d for the 1st<\/sup>\nlaps on the race track.  The initial\ntrack action saw zero issues, with all on Team Sahlen happy to see a new Boxster\nroll out on track.  <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Joe Nonnamaker\nshared his thoughts on the newest Boxster – \u201cMustard\u201ds debut \u2013 \u201cThe crew has\nbeen working non stop to bring this new car to life.  Its great to see all their hard work pay off\nwith the goal of the Pittsburgh Grand Prix reached. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saturday\u2019s race\nsaw Team Sahlen excited to take on the challenge of defending their 2017 &\n2018 Overall victories at the Tire Rack – ChampCar Endurance Series Pittsburgh\nGrand Prix.  Bright, blue skies meant for\ndry track.  Team Sahlen charged hard and\nby the halfway point in the race, the team was running 1st<\/sup> and 2nd<\/sup>.  Then misstep by Will Nonnamaker in the #943 \u201cKetchup\u201d\nracer knocked the Boxster out of the race. \nThis caused a full course red flag, which then in turn compromised the #942\n\u201cMustard\u201d race strategy.  In the end \u201cMustard\u201d\nwas able to still secure a 3rd<\/sup> place overall out of the 70 race cars\nin the event. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Saturday\nevening saw the Team Sahlen crew work tirelessly to fix the damaged #943. And\nwith the parts that were available, the crew did an amazing job getting \u201cKetchup\u201d\nready for action again.  <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Will Nonnamaker\nshared his thoughts on the effort to repair the Stuttgart racer \u2013 \u201cEveryone on\nthe team just pitched in to fix up \u201cKetchup\u201d. \nAfter I hit the wall, I didn\u2019t think there was a chance that we back on\ntrack this weekend, but the crew had a never give up attitude, and succeeded.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sunday dawned\nwith cloudy skies that resulted in off and on rain showers all day.  Team Sahlen came out focused run at the front\nand battle with the leaders.  The team\nwas successful, with both Boxsters spending time atop of the leader board.  In the end, 2 near perfect races resulted in\na 2nd<\/sup> and 3rd<\/sup> Overall, and the fastest race lap of the\nday<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wayne Nonnamaker\nshared his thoughts after the race \u2013 \u201cWhat a fun day of racing.  We had a nearly perfect race today.  And that was good enough for 2nd<\/sup>\noverall.  It would have taken a perfect\nrace here to have challenged the front wheel drive RBankRacing Honda CRX in the\nrain. We didn\u2019t a zero error day, but to find ourselves on the podium with both\nBoxsters is just a testament to the focus of this Team Sahlen crew.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The next race\nfor Team Sahlen will be the October 19th<\/sup> and 20th<\/sup> \u2013\nSummit Racing \u2013 American Endurance Racing Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course event.  Team Sahlen is the defending overall victor from\nlast year, as well as 2015 & 2017. \nThe team hopes to enter their brand new Audi R8 LMS GT3 \u201cRetro\u201d racer in\nthe quest to defend the overall victory.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
