< Back to News Home Team Sahlen hopes early season Virginia Test assists for round 10

Posted (08/11/2014) -

During the early season lay off in April, Team Sahlen took the opportunity to test at Virginia International Raceway.  From this test, Team Sahlen was able to learn a significant amount from the newly repaved surface of the track.  Team Sahlen is now hoping this set up knowledge is useful at Round 10 of the 2014 Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge Series.

Team Manager Jay Chapman shared his thoughts - “We had a test here in April.  I give the crew a lot of credit.  It was a lot of work in April to get ready for that test.  It was more time away from home, but everyone stepped forward to commit to the test to get us better.  Hopefully we will see the fruits of the labor come together here at this weekend’s Virginia event.”

Currently, Team Sahlen is in the lead of the ST Championship.  With only 3 races to go in the 2014 season, every position on track will be very important.

“When you are in a championship fight, it becomes very important to focus upon getting the maximum points available vs those you are competing against for the championship.  We feel we have good pace at VIR from our test.  Hopefully that proves to be the case 4 months later, when the temperature is much warmer.” – shared Wayne Nonnamaker

Co-Driving with Wayne in the #42 Team Sahlen racer will be his brother Will Nonnamaker.  Will as well tested at VIR in April.

“It’s nice to come back to a track that we have already been on, and have the in-car video and data to have as a baseline.  I truly love driving at this track.  It has so many varieties of turns that it is a real challenge for the drivers.” – shared Will Nonnamaker

The Virginia International Raceway will be on August 22nd at 12:15 pm EDT.   The race will be televised on FoxSports1 on August 31st at 10 am EDT.
