< Back to News Home Pittsburgh International Race Complex partners with Team Sahlen

Posted (04/28/2014) -

Team Sahlen official test track is the Pittsburgh International Race Complex.  The team has been utilizing the facility as far back as 2006 as their local facility to work on set up pre season and between races during the year.  Even last year, the team was able to take the Grand American ROLEX Series Daytona Prototypes out for a day at the track in preparation for the Sahlen’s Six Hours of the Glen.

Team Sahlen Driver Joe Nonnamaker shared his thoughts - “Having a track so close by to test on is great.  And Pitt Race is an excellent track for us to test on.  There is plenty of run off, there are tight turns, sweepers, and turns with elevation.  Also, from a facility standpoint, the pits are excellent, along with some very nice hospitality area for entertaining guests.”

Not only does Team Sahlen take advantage of the Road Course at Pittsburgh International Race Complex, but the fantastic Karting track at the facility. Wayne Nonnamaker shared his thoughts – “Getting track time in a race car can be an expensive proposition.  This was especially true last year for us racing the Daytona Prototypes.  We were able to purchase a few go-karts to simulate this level of driving as well as condition our necks and arms to this level of strain.  The Go-Kart Track at Pitt Race is fantastic.  Even with a shifter kart, it takes a minute to get around.  Unique to Kart tracks, this facility actually has some elevation changes.  The neat part is that you don’t have to own your own kart.  They have rental karts with wheel guards that you and your friends can go and play around with as well.”

For the 2014 Season, the Team Sahlen Porsche Caymans will proudly carry the Pittsburgh International Race Complex branding on their rear quarter panels and hood at each event, hoping to spread the good news of this Midwest based facility.
