DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (April 15, 2013) – En route to Saturday’s race at Road Atlanta, GRAND-AM will make a very special stop at Turner Field on Tuesday night.

Call it a pass-through without a penalty.

At the end of the sixth inning of the Atlanta Braves-Kansas City Royals game, the No. 42 Team Sahlen car that competes in the GRAND-AM Rolex Series’ Daytona Prototype class will tour the Turner Field outfield, with lead driver and Suwanee, Ga. resident Dane Cameron carefully driving the exotic red, yellow and black BMW/Riley around the warning track.

This will not be a hot lap, but it still should be pretty cool – considering the significance of the No. 42. That number was worn by the legendary Jackie Robinson. Annually, April 15 is celebrated as Jackie Robinson Day throughout Major League Baseball. Since the Braves are off today, they will celebrate on Tuesday night.

“When they told me I was going to run a lap around the field my first thought was ‘It’s going to be slick going from grass to dirt’, but I guess I’ll be parading around in first gear,” Cameron said jokingly. “I’ll try my best not to tear up the field; if there wasn’t a game going on I’m sure we could have a lot more fun out there.

“Seriously, it’s a cool plan and a big honor to be a part of this promotion for the Road Atlanta race, especially driving the No. 42 and knowing what that number means in baseball with Jackie Robinson.”

In addition to the warning track ride, the Team Sahlen car will be on display near the Turner Field entrance for several hours prior to the 7:10 p.m. (ET) first pitch, with Cameron signing autographs for fans.

Cameron and Wayne Nonnamaker will co-drive in Saturday’s two-hour, 45-minute Rolex Series race (live on SPEED and MRN, 4:30 p.m.ET), the fourth event of the season.
