Team Sahlen’s Dane Cameron is very excited about this upcoming weekend’s Grand American ROLEX event at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve.  Dane will be driving in the Team Sahlen #43 Mazda RX-8.  Currently Dane is in 8^th place in the Driver’s Points Standings.  In 2011, Dane drove for Dempsey Racing in their Mazda RX-8.  During the last 4 events of 2011, Dane went on a tear, capturing 3 podiums.  This includes a 3^rd place finish at last year’s event at Montreal. He is hoping lighting strikes twice this year for his Mazda RX-8

“I can't wait for Montreal, It is one of my favorite tracks in the world, it is so unique but has a great flow to it. it combines a mix of street course and traditional road course elements along with some big curbs to jump, what more could you ask for?” – shared Dane Cameron

Dane is riding on a high right now after being announced that he will return as the finishing driver for Team Sahlen in their 2013.  But instead of driving a Mazda RX-8 in the GT class, Dane will be driving a slightly different type of a race car, a BMW – RILEY Daytona Prototype.

Dane Cameron added being announced as the lead Driver for Team Sahlen’s Daytona Prototype entry - “I am very pumped to be chosen by Team Sahlen as their lead driver for their foray into the Daytona Prototype class. I have enjoyed my past experiences in the Daytona Prototype class.  There are a lot of great teams and drivers in the DPs.  I am looking forward to this transition as we work to rise to the challenge to take on the very best in the premier ROLEX class.”

Dane will be paired with Wayne Nonnamaker for this weekend’s race in the #43 Mazda.  The duo have become famous for their moniker “The Wayne & Dane Show” in 2012.   The pairing will continue in 2013 with Wayne Nonnamaker joining Dane in the BMW-RILEY.

“I have enjoyed being paired with Dane this year.  He has done a fantastic job.  He has had great pace, and has had very few mistakes, and very limited body damage.  And that body damage that has occurred was when others crashed into him.  We were very fast last year at Montreal, with John Edwards and myself in the top 3 during most of the race, then finishing in 6^th place.  Hopefully Dane and myself us can have a fantastic race for Mazda this weekend.” – added Wayne Nonnamaker

In the 2^nd Team Sahlen Mazda will be Joe Nonnamaker and his son Will Nonnamaker.  At the most recent event at Watkins Glen, Joe had his best finish of the season with a fine 6^th place finish in GT.  And Joe is hoping to keep up this Top 10 streak at Montreal

This Saturday’s event at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal, Canada will be broadcast tape delayed at 7 pm on the 18^th.  This race being so soon means that the Team Sahlen crew has only a short time to work on the Mazdas to get them ready.  In fact, the main crew was not even able to come home during this short turn around, instead staying in New York State to reprep the RX-8s.
