< Back to News Home Team Sahlen hungry for Race Victory at Watkins Glen

Posted (07/31/2012) -

Team Sahlen is hungry for a race win during the 2012 race season. And the Grand American ROLEX Schedule is winding down with fewer and fewer races left on the schedule.  And everyone on Team Sahlen would like nothing more than to achieve that victory at the home track for Sahlen’s – Watkins Glen International.

At this event Team Sahlen will be campaigning 3 Mazdas in that quest to notch down that victory.  In the #43 RX-8 will be the “Wayne & Dane” show.  This duo has been strong all year, having lead at 5 events to date in 2012.

“I am looking forward to getting back to the glen, I feel like we have some unfinished business after the Sahlen's 6hr. We had such a fast car that weekend so I can't wait to get there and seal the deal and pick up our first win.” – shared Dane Cameron

Wayne Nonnamaker will be serving double duty this weekend, as he will not only be starting the #43, but finishing the #42 that will be driven by his father, Joe Nonnamaker.

Also making a reappearance will be the #49 Western New York Flash themed Team Sahlen Mazda.  Drivers will be Joe Sahlen & Will Nonnamaker.  2 weeks prior in July, the Sahlen’s owned Western New York Flash Women’s Professional Soccer Team won their 3rd consecutive League title.

Joe Sahlen shared his enthusiasm for the weekend – “I am excited to be back behind the wheel. I am proud of our women soccer team for their achievements.  Driving the Flash themed Mazda will be a great commemoration of that championship.  I really enjoy racing at the Glen, and to be racing with the Sprint Cup weekend is always fun, with the fantastic NASCAR fans that come out to watch.”

With Team Sahlen’s 3 entries in the race, they continue to be the leader in race entries for the 2012 ROLEX series, with 24.

Additionally, Team Sahlen continues to pursue the quest of having both the #42 and #43 in the Top Ten in the GT Team Standings. #42 is in 7th place, and currently, #43 is just outside, in 11th place.

The next event for Team Sahlen will the Continental Tires 200 at Watkins Glen International on August 11th at 6 pm.  The race will be televised live on SPEED TV.
