< Back to News Home Who is the Single Season Continental Tire Series Mileage Leader?

Posted (11/15/2011) -

Who do you think is the Continental Tire Series Single Season leader in total distance completed in racing mileage?

Terry Borcheller would be an excellent guess, especially since he’s competed in every year of the series.  Borcheller is actually sixth all time with 7,837 miles

Andy Lally would also be a very good guess, especially since he is the all time Continental Tire Series Mileage Leader with 10,243. Additionally, Andy is Grand-Am’s all time racing mileage leader for both ROLEX and Continental with 34,032 miles.

The Single Season Mileage Leader in the Continental Tire Series is actually Team Sahlen’s very own Wayne Nonnamaker, with 2,166 miles in 2003.  Billy Johnson is second with 1,921 miles in 2007, followed by Lally’s 1,859 in 2007.

In large part to his 2003 season, Wayne is also No. 2 on the all-time Continental Tire Series list with 7,945 miles.  He is followed on the list by Charles Espenlaub (7,944 miles), Guy Cosmo (7,900 miles) and Billy Johnson (7,846 miles).  Team Sahlen’s Will Nonnamaker also cracks the Top 10 in all time miles in the Continental Tire Series, ranking 8th with 7,762 miles.  Additioanally, the 2003 GS champion Joe Nonnamaker has tallied 3,654 miles in the Continental Tire Series.

Will also holds the distinction of having driven in a race in every Continental Tire Series Season.  There are 12 other drivers to be members of this exclusive club: Andy Lally, Terry Borcheller, Hugh Plumb, B.J. Zacharias, Bob Beede, David Russell, Eric Curran, Ray Mason, Nick Longhi, John Schmidt, Dr. Joe Masessa and Benoit Theetge.

In the ROLEX Sports Car Series, Darren Law is the all time mileage leader with 25,436 miles.  Team Sahlen’s Bob Akin Sportsman Champions Wayne Nonnamaker (14,088 miles) and Will Nonnamaker (11,592) are respectively 19th and 35th in ROLEX mileage rankings.

If you combine both the ROLEX Sports Car Series and Continental Tire Series Mileage, Andy Lally is the all time leader with 34,032 miles.  On the strength of his many years in the Continental Tire Series, Wayne Nonnamaker (22,033 miles) is ranked in 8th place on combined miles.
