< Back to News Home Team Sahlen at New Jersey Motorsports Park: Racing ROLEX GT with 2 cars and 5 drivers!

Posted (07/12/2010) -

For the GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Cask No. 16 event at New Jersey Motorsports Park, Team Sahlen will be entering their usual #42 and #43 Mazda RX-8s.  But instead of the typical pairing of two drivers for two cars, Team Sahlen is going to try a new approach for the weekend.  For the New Jersey event, Team Sahlen will have 5 drivers for the 2 cars.

Drivers for the #43 will be Andy Wallace and Wayne Nonnamaker.

“Will had the pleasure of driving with Andy at Daytona and now I get this great opportunity.  I am excited to have Andy back with us this weekend.  He brings a wealth of experience to the team that will be valuable as we all work to strive to get the Team Sahlen RX-8 to the top step on the podium.”

Then in the #42 Mazda, Joe Sahlen will team up with the father and son duo of Joe & Will Nonnamaker.

“We are excited to have Joe Sahlen back in the Driver Line-Up after a two race hiatus.  This should be a lot of fun.  Joe will start, then Dad will get in and drive the middle stint, then I will drive clean up at the end.  This strategy of keeping each driver fresh could really pay off with an expected hot race.” – states Will Nonnamaker

Joe Sahlen further adds “Last year the race was in a torrential down pour.  So I will take the problem of a little bit of heat vs the swelling of rain that came down last year.”

The New Jersey Motorsports Park 250 will take the green flag on Sunday, July 18th at 1 pm, and be Televised live  on SPEED TV.

The 2010 Team Sahlen GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Cask No. 16 & GRAND-AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge Campaigns will be supported by Mazda, Mazdaspeed, HRPWorld.com, HAWK Performance, Cool Shirt, Racetech Seats, BBS, Racing Print Media, Alcon, Mothers Polish, EMCO, TheRaceSite.com, Grassroots Motorsports, Holliday Canopies, Alcon, CM Racing, Genesis Technologies, Endurance Karting, Bell Helmets, Castrol, Ianetti Design, and SpeedSource Engineering
