Team Sahlen ready for ST season finale at VIR

Posted (10/04/2007) - While most teams entering this weekend's KONI Challenge Series finale at Virginia International Raceway are looking to conclude the season and perhaps win a championship; Team Sahlen is instead using the 6 Hour finale as a test session to further prepare for the 2008 season. Team Sahlen will be entering the #70 SpeedSource Mazda RX-8 in the ST class with drivers Joe Sahlen and Will Nonnamaker. The duo competed in last year's ST and GS 6 hour races at Virginia. In the GS race, the pair drove a Porsche to finish in 19th place out of 37, despite only having 3rd gear for the last 2 hours. In the ST race, Joe & Will drove the unique Dodge SRT-4. The pair had the Dodge as high as 7th place until a mechanical gremlin forced them out of the race. "We thought about going out and testing the SpeedSource Mazda this fall. And then we decided that that best way to test ourselves was to go up against the competition at the track in the heat of battle. If we could secure a Top 10 that would bode well for next year and if we find our selves in the Top 5, well that really bodes well for 2008." - states Will Nonnamaker Will has experienced his share of success at Virginia International Raceway in the Street Tuner class, having won 3 races in the team's Acura Integras. "With 36 Street Tuner racers entered for Saturday's event, it should be a very exciting 6 hour event. I am excited to get back behind the wheel of the SpeedSource Mazda for this event." - states Joe Sahlen.
