Team Sahlen's Returns to their Corvette Roots.

Posted (06/21/2007) - This year, Mid-Ohio fans will hear the roar of Chevy Thunder shake the foundations of Thunder Valley, when the two Team Sahlen's Corvettes roar through in the ROLEX GT race! Team Sahlen will be campaigning two brand new HRPWorld.com Chevrolet Corvette ZO6 race cars during the exciting 2007 thirteen event ROLEX season. And leading the charge in the Corvettes will be the Ohio racing family of Joe Nonnamaker and his two sons, Wayne & Will Nonnamaker. Team Sahlen driver, Joe Nonnamaker finds this race especially exciting because it puts him behind the wheel of a Corvette at Mid-Ohio. "The first race car I ever had was a 1967 Corvette that I started autocrossing in 1972 in the Toledo area. Then in 2000-02, I raced a C5 Corvette, almost winning the 2000 Mid-Ohio event". And being in a Corvette at Mid-Ohio makes it extra fun for Joe. "Mid-Ohio is not only my hometown race, but it is my favorite track. The Trueman family have done a fantastic job in improving on this track, while still keeping the essence of what makes the track such a challenge to drive." The Nonnamaker family has long been a part of the sports car scene at Mid-Ohio. Over the years the family has raced to success at Mid-Ohio in Volkswagens, Mazdas, Acuras and Porsches. In fact, Team Sahlen has had the good fortune to find victory lane at Mid-Ohio. Previous wins here include three in the Street Tuner events (1998, 2001 and 2002) as well as one in the Grand Touring event (2004). "Its always great to get to race at Mid-Ohio. We test here at least 2 to 3 times a year. I always enjoyed competing in the Regional and National events at Mid-Ohio such as the Brat Bash and the WOR Games. And of course having the chance to compete at the Runoffs was a great memory. But having the chance to be in the premier Sunday showcase event on a professional race weekend in the ROLEX GT race is a dream come true. And topping it off with having my Dad and Brother out there with me, just puts it over the top" - states Wayne Nonnamaker This is truly an all around Ohio team with long time team partners HAWK Performance, Forgeline Wheels, GOJO, Corsa Performance and Kempthorn Auto Mall all hailing from the Buckeye state. And all will be in attendance at the weekend's race activities. In total, Team Sahlen is anticipating over 300 guests from their Corporate Partners, Family, Friends and Fans cheering them on at Mid-Ohio. The Mid-Ohio ROLEX GT race will be televised on SPEED TV at 12 pm on June 24th.
