Team Sahlen Fleet Heads to Alabama

Posted (07/25/2006) - Team Sahlen heads to the Barber Motorsports Park for their next race in the Grand-Am Cup series. The team leaves for the Birmingham, Alabama track to get ready for the Cup race leading up to the Porsche 250. The team won at Barber with former drivers, Craig Stanton and David Murry, in 2004. This year the team is looking forward to an excellent race at the track. Also in 2004, Joe and Wayne Nonnamaker took third place and joined Stanton and Murry on the podium. In 2003, the father-son duo took the win and this year Joe and Wayne will pair up once again at the Barber track. In the most recent Grand-Am Cup race held at the Mid Ohio Sports Car Course, the drivers of the No. 44 car took a top-ten finish. Wayne Nonnamaker spoke briefly about the top-ten and his anticipation of the Barber race. "We did a lot of great things on-track at Mid-Ohio. When we got pushed off track late in the race by a BMW, it was frustrating but we were able to take away a lot of good things. Barber, historically, has been a good track for our cars and Porsches in general. Last year's Barber race reminded me of Mid Ohio as we were leading late in the race when a BMW took us out at that track as well," stated Nonnamaker. In the Team Sahlen No. 43 car Joe Sahlen and Will Nonnamaker will co-drive for the Barber race. Sahlen has already spent time at the track this season testing a Team Sahlen car. Sahlen and Nonnamaker co-drove together in the 2005 race at Barber. Tanner Baker and will co-drive the No. 40 Team Sahlen Porsche with first time Team Sahlen drivers John Fredrick and Johnathan Miller. Baker drove the Team Sahlen Porsche in June's Mid Ohio race.
