Team Sahlen Takes Second Consecutive Top-Ten Finish at GAINSCO Grand Prix

Posted (05/15/2006) - Eric Lux and Charles Espenlaub co-drove the Team Sahlen No. 74 Porsche at the GAINSCO Grand Prix in Avondale, Arizona last Saturday. Lux and Espenlaub battled with the Grand Touring (GT) class in the Grand American Rolex Race held at Phoenix International Raceway. The GAINSCO Grand Prix was the third and final race of the day for the Team Sahlen crew. Lux and Espenlaub took 8th place at Phoenix International Raceway. This is the second of two consecutive top-tens in the Grand American Rolex GT class for the duo. The first of the two top-ten finishes was taken just one week earlier at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. The wins at Phoenix International Raceway and Laguna Seca moved Lux and Espenlaub into top-ten spots in the Driver Point Standings. Lux is in 8th place for Driver Points while Espenlaub is in 9th. An incident at VIRginia International Raceway separated the two co-drivers in Driver Points Standings but together the No. 74 car now sits 7th in Team Point Standings. "Having both Eric and Charles with our team has been great. We are so pleased to work with them and help with their pursuit of the team and driver's championship," states Wayne Nonnamaker, Team Sahlen owner and driver. The top ten finish at Phoenix International Raceway was a wonderful way to end a very long at hot day for the Team Sahlen crew. Temperatures hit above 110 degrees and the Grand American Rolex race was the third race of day. Team Sahlen Grand-Am Cup Grand Sport and Street Tuner class efforts also hit to the Phoenix International Raceway track during the day. Team Sahlen will now head to Lime Rock for the next Grand American Rolex race. This will be the first time Team Sahlen Porsches will make an appearance at Lime Rock. The Grand American Rolex race at Lime Rock Park will be held on Monday, May 29th at 2:15 PM EST. Team Sahlen enters Grand American Rolex competition with support from HRPWorld.com, GOJO, TheRaceSite.com, TheRaceMarket.com, Kempthorn Auto Mall, Racetech, and Grassroots Motorsports. |
