Team Sahlen's First Rolex Entry Since Daytona, Lands Top-Ten

Posted (05/10/2006) - This weekend at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca Team Sahlen entered their first Grand American Rolex race since the season opener at Daytona. Young driving sensation Eric Lux and co-driver Charles Espenlaub piloted the No. 74 entry for Team Sahlen. This was the first time this season Lux and Espenlaub co-drove a Team Sahlen Grand Touring (GT) class car. Team Sahlen owner and drive Wayne Nonnamaker was excited to have such a good showing for the team at the Salinas, California track. Wayne and his brother Will who did not compete in this year's Laguna Rolex race took a top-ten finish at Laguna in 2005. This is the second top-ten Grand Touring class finish for a Team Sahlen car, the first being during the Rolex 24 at Daytona. "Laguna Seca is a challenging course but it was a combination of both strategy and good execution by the drivers that got our team that seventh place finish. Coming up onto the cork screw, it is very difficult to see what's ahead of you. Both Eric and Charles did a good job during the race and came out with only minor damage to the car, which will allow us to concentrate on an even better race at Phoenix," stated Nonnamaker. Team Sahlen will compete in the GAINSCO Grand Prix next Saturday at 7:00 PM. This will be Team Sahlen's third and final race of the day at Phoenix International Raceway. Team Sahlen will have entries in both Grand-Am Cup races to be held earlier that day.
