Team Sahlen Starts Off Two Week Road Trip with Laguna Seca Race

Posted (05/03/2006) - The Team Sahlen truck hit the road this past Saturday beginning a two week road trip with back-to-back races in California and Arizona. The first race will be held at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey, California and the second will be held at Phoenix International Raceway in Avondale, Arizona. The team will have two cars entered in the Grand-Am Cup race and looks to earn another win in the Grand Sport class. The lineup will include Joe Sahlen and Will Nonnamaker in the No. 43 Team Sahlen Porsche 996 while the second entry will see Joe Nonnamaker and Wayne Nonnamaker share the No. 44 Team Sahlen Porsche. Will Nonnamaker, Team Sahlen owner and driver, will be joined in the Team Sahlen No. 43 Porsche by co-driver Joe Sahlen. Sahlen and Nonnamaker will join forces once again in the Team Sahlen Porsche. Rounding out the Team Sahlen entries for the weekend is Joe and Wayne Nonnamaker who will sit in the driver seat of the Team Sahlen No. 44 Porsche. "The crew has been extremely busy over the past week," commented Wayne Nonnamaker. "We rebuilt a very hurt Dodge SRT-4 in preparation for its race at Phoenix. The car needed many of the front end parts replaced, but with diligent work the crew got the car ready to race and it could have competed at Laguna this weekend if it needed to run. "We also spent time on our new chassis dyno further refining the Grand Am Cup Porsche's power characteristics. In addition we also took last Friday to test at Mid Ohio to refine the handling and braking abilities of the car. All this happened in a very short one week time frame which is a real testament to the dedication of this crew." Team Sahlen will race at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca on Saturday, May 6th at 2:45 PM PST in the third installment of the 2006 Grand-Am Cup season. The team competes in the Grand-Am Cup Grand Sport class and Street Tuner class with support from HRPWorld.com, GOJO, Kempthorn AutoMall, TheRaceSite.com, TheRaceMarket.com, Grassroots Motorsports, and Racetech Seats. |
