Team Sahlen Earns Top Ten at Mid Ohio Rolex Race

Posted (08/29/2005) - Lexington, Ohio - Team Sahlen had only one entry this weekend during the EMCO Gears Classic Rolex Race but that one effort proved excellent for the Porsche team. Driving for Team Sahlen was Wes Allen of Lexington, Kentucky and Team Sahlen driver/owner Will Nonnamaker. The two combined for an 8th place finish at the Saturday Rolex race. This was Allen's first time in the Team Sahlen Porsches since February's Rolex 24 Hour race but Allen was ready for competition. Through the weekend he gained more confidence in his effort and his lap times reflected it. This was Allen's second top-ten finish for the season as he and teammates Ron Zitza, Brad Blum, Victor Gonzalez, Jr., and Eric Lux took home 9th place during the Rolex 24. Will Nonnamaker, who is currently running for the Bob Akin award, ran excellent times as well and crossed the finish line for the Grand Touring class team. This is Nonnamaker's fifth top-ten finish for the 2005 season. Nonnamaker continues to lead the Akin award after the Mid Ohio race. "We have been running these cars very well and consistently through the season. We have remained competitive in this class and will continue to do so through the end of the season. We have been very pleased with our team's performance this year." commented Nonnamaker. Team Sahlen now heads to Phoenix for their next Grand American Rolex race. The race will be split with the Grand Touring class completing at 7:30 Friday, September 9th and the Daytona Prototypes competing at 7:00pm Saturday, September 10th. Team Sahlen competes in the ROLEX Grand American Series with support from HRPWorld.com, TheRaceSite.com, Rembrandt Charms, TheRaceMarket.com, Kempthorn Auto Mall, UNICHIP, Lamin-X, Racetech, and Grassroots Motorsports. |
