< Back to News Home Hitting the Road Again, Team Sahlen Packs Up for Next Race at Trois-Rivieres

Posted (08/03/2005) -
Team Sahlen is ready once again to hit the road and this time their destination is Canada. After two nights at home after the Barber Motorsports Park race in Alabama the Team Sahlen crew will once again leave for their next race at Trois-Rivieres, Quebec, Canada.

"This is what we do," says Crew Chief, Mike Thomas. "We had two days to get the cars ready after Barber and were on the road again. All of the Grand-Am Cup teams are facing this back to back racing weekends. It's a lot of work but we will be ready for the race and it is worth it," Thomas concludes.

Team Sahlen will be heading to Quebec with four drivers; Joe Sahlen, Joe Nonnamaker, Will Nonnamaker, and Wayne Nonnamaker. The drivers are ready for their next Grand-Am Cup competition.

"What was fortunate for our team is we walked away from Barber with minor damage to our Cup cars. With this we are able to come into this race and build on the success we had at Barber," states Joe Nonnamaker.

Joe and his son, Wayne, were able to bring their Grand Sport class car to the front of the pack at last weekend's Barber Park 200. The Barber race shed some light onto the team that earned the 2004 Driver, Team, and Manufacturers Championships.

"We were extremely pleased with the way our cars performed last weekend. We have been searching all season for ways to make our car get up to the front and we achieved that from the back of the pack. Trois-Rivieres will give us another chance to look at our development and hopefully take a top five finish," added the Nonnamaker patriarch.

With a split race at Trois-Rivieres, the Grand-Am Cup Sport Touring class will race Saturday, August 6th at 2:00pm (EST). The Grand-Am Cup Grand Sport class race, and Team Sahlen Porsches, will commence on Sunday, August 7th at 3:00pm (EST).

Team Sahlen will competes in the 2005 Grand-Am Cup series with support from HRPWorld.com, TheRaceSite.com, Hawk Performance, TheRaceMarket.com, Kempthorn Auto Mall, UNICHIP, Lamin-X, Racetech, and Grassroots Motorsports.
