< Back to News Home Yellow Flags Fly During Porsche 200; Team Sahlen Finishes Strong

Posted (08/03/2005) - Team Sahlen spent last Sunday in a tumultuous race mixed with hindering weather and brutal competition at Barber Motorsports Park. The Porsche 250 was marked with yellow flags but the Team Sahlen Porsches avoided any catastrophic damage. The No. 41 Grand Touring class Porsche was struck early on in the race but the car remained in tact and the team completed the race. Rain also made it rough for the drivers and teams through the last portion of the race. Most importantly, with the season nearing its finish, competition is intensified as drivers contend for race as well as championship position.

"It is difficult running at this track with not only the large field that the GT class has but also having the DP's run at the same time here. It does make it more exciting but that is balanced by the challenge it presents to drivers. Here at the end of the season were are seeing a lot of amazing driving but a lot of racing incidents as well. It's a fight to the finish from here on out," stated Joe Nonnamaker.

The Nonnamaker family filled both Team Sahlen cars during the Porsche 250. Joe, and sons, Will and Wayne, took their turns in the Team Sahlen No. 41 and No. 43 cars. The family has been splitting time in both cars for the majority of the season. Team Sahlen cars took 15th and 16th place at Barber Motorsports Park. As the team heads to their shop in Massillon, Ohio they prepare for their next Grand American Rolex race at Watkins Glen International.

"We look forward to return to Watkins Glen for another Rolex race in two weeks. Watkins Glen is a great track for our cars and we always look forward to driving there," added Joe Nonnamaker.

Team Sahlen competes in the Grand American Rolex Sports Car Series with support from HRPWorld.com, TheRaceSite.com, Rembrandt Charms, TheRaceMarket.com, Kempthorn Auto Mall, UNICHIP, Lamin-X, Racetech, and Grassroots Motorsports.
