Team Sahlen Hopes to Repeat Success of Daytona at Barber Track

Posted (07/28/2005) - Team Sahlen had one of their most successful races of the season at Daytona International Speedway with their second consecutive seventh place finish in the GT Class of the Grand American Rolex Series. With their findings after the race they hope to bring home another top ten finish from Barber. "The developments we have been making on the cars definitely have shown a very positive impact. We are able to run the car faster at a greater fuel efficiency. We have been working very hard to get up into a top five spot and hopefully will have an opportunity to do so this weekend," stated crew chief, Mike Thomas. The team has shown definite growth since their development in a new body design prior to the Laguna Seca race. Better qualifying times, and better finishes are giving the team more quantitative results, but they still seek more. "The recent findings we have recorded with this new body work for the Porsche GT3 Cup car is extremely encouraging. The Grand Touring class is tough, especially with the number of Porsches that are in the class. Within the Grand Touring class you really have to find a way to differentiate yourself, not only within the class, but with the type of cars as well. We are in the right direction to make some great things happen and we are excited to aide in Porsche bid for the GT Manufacturer's title," stated Wayne Nonnamaker. Joe Nonnamaker and his sons, Will and Wayne, will share the driving duties in the No. 41 and No. 43 Team Sahlen Porsche GT3 Cups. Team Sahlen competes in the ROLEX Grand American Series with support from HRPWorld.com, TheRaceSite.com, Rembrandt Charms, TheRaceMarket.com, Kempthorn Auto Mall, UNICHIP, Lamin-X, RaceTech, and Grassroots Motorsports. |
