Posted (07/05/2005) - Team Sahlen took their best finish of the season in the Rolex Sports Car Series Grand Touring (GT) class. The team performed in front of packed Daytona International stands, one of the biggest crowds of the season.

Will Nonnamaker started off in the car for the No. 43 car. He held position on the Daytona tracked and held off many of his GT class competitors. Wayne Nonnamaker then jumped in the car to finish the race off.

The Nonnamaker brothers were able to bring the car up as far as 6th place and finished the race strong in 7th. This is the best finish for the team in the 2005 season, matching their performance at the most recent Sahlen's Six Hours of the Glen.

Drivers Eric Lux and Joe Nonnamaker shared the seat in the No. 41 car. Lux is 17 year-old native of Buffalo. Lux crossed the finish line for Team Sahlen during the Brumos Porsche 250. Lux and Nonnamaker finished in 21st place.

"This is our best Rolex finish of the season and naturally we are very pleased. We took the car to 6th place and dropped back one position to take 7th. We are very happy with what happened here tonight especially with several of the GT drivers getting into run ins with the DP's. We were very fortunate," stated Wayne Nonnamaker.

The Brumos Porsche 250 during the Pepsi 400 weekend at Daytona International Speedway always draws a large crowd of motorsport enthusiasts. Putting on a good show for the NASCAR fans is always a treat for Team Sahlen.

"This crowd is one of the largest we will see all year. It is wonderful to get an opportunity to bring sports car racing to more fans. The NASCAR fans are very passionate about the sport. We are always happy to give more exposure into our sport and this is a great way to do it," stated Team Sahlen driver Will Nonnamaker.

Team Sahlen will head south again for the Porsche 250 at Barber Motorsports Park July 29th - 31st. SPEED will air the race live Sunday, July 31st at 1:00 pm EST.

Team Sahlen competes in the ROLEX Grand American Series with support from HRPWorld.com, TheRaceSite.com, Rembrandt Charms, TheRaceMarket.com, Kempthorn Auto Mall, UNICHIP, Lamin-X, RaceTech, and Grassroots Motorsports.
