Posted (06/20/2005) - Team Sahlen's Grand-Am Cup Grand Sport class cars headed to Canada this past weekend for a showdown in Mosport. With drivers Joe Sahlen, Joe Nonnamaker, Wayne Nonnamaker, and Will Nonnamaker the team made some great moves on the track despite poor weather conditions. With rain all throughout the Thursday and Friday practice sessions and through the final practice on Saturday, finding the right set up for race time was difficult.

"It was a pretty wet weekend for everyone. It made track conditions particularly hazardous for all teams. Mosport itself is a particularly difficult track," stated Will Nonnamaker.

Joe and Wayne Nonnamaker drove the Team Sahlen No. 40 car. They finished 11th in the GS class. Joe Sahlen and Will Nonnamaker shared a ride in the Team Sahlen No. 42 car and due to slight setback with the power steering, did not finish within the top fifteen.

"We had to pit late in the race because of an oiling problem," commented Wayne Nonnamaker. "The track position we lost was impossible to regain. We think the problem may have been caused by the contact we had last week when we were running 7th in the last laps of the race at the Glen. It is too bad because that contact has now taken us out of two top ten finishes."

The Team Sahlen Grand-Am Cup Grand Sport cars will make their next appearance at the July 29th race at Barber Motorsports Park.

"This season has been very unpredictable for us," added Nonnamaker. "We have had some of the worst luck possible, but we are very committed to winning in Grand Am Cup. We have a strong car, we just need a lucky break or two to go our way for things to turn around."

Team Sahlen will compete at Mosport with support from HRPWorld.com, TheRaceSite.com, Hawk Performance, TheRaceMarket.com, Kempthorn Auto Mall, UNICHIP, Lamin-X, RaceTech, and Grassroots Motorsports.
