< Back to News Home Sahlen's Six Hour Brings Two Top Ten Finishes for Team Sahlen

Posted (06/14/2005) - Watkins Glen, NY - Racing fans of the Watkins Glen surrounding area are familiar with the conditions that highlighted the Sahlen's Six Hours of the Glen race at Watkins Glen International. Torrential downpours made driving conditions extremely hazardous for Team Sahlen drivers as well as the rest of the Grand Touring (GT) class field. With temperatures for the weekend looming near 90 degrees, plus extreme humidity, made the Sahlen's Six Hour a challenging event.

It was drivers Keith Fisher, Joe Nonnamaker, Wayne Nonnamaker, and Will Nonnamaker who brought home two top ten finishes for the team. The four Team Sahlen drivers upheld extreme competitiveness through the long, and hot hours of Sunday morning and afternoon.

Amazingly enough, Fisher had already participated in two races that weekend with the Skip Barber Racing Series which was also present during the Sahlen's Six Hour weekend. Fisher co-drove the Team Sahlen No. 41 car with Joe Nonnamaker. Nonnamaker spoke briefly about the race and his co-driver.

"I had a great time sharing the seat with Keith. This was a very intense race. The real challenges were in the tires changes, and avoiding some of the cars who had not yet changed to their rain tires. We made it through and did so unscathed!" stated Nonnamaker. Fisher and Nonnamaker took 9th place in the Sahlen's Six Hour Race at the Glen.

Wayne and Will Nonnamaker shared the seat in the Team Sahlen No. 43 car. The brothers faired very well in the rainy conditions. After early contact from an overzealous pass by a Daytona Prototype they pitted early with a flat tired but faced no other detrimental situations through the course of the six hours, despite the rain. Will Nonnamaker was very pleased with the team's performance.

"That was a very tough race but we really pushed it hard. Rain always makes it difficult but on this track particularly. We wanted to put on a big show for the Sahlen's crowd and I think we did great. We all had a lot of fun. A lot of people came to the race from Sahlen's to show support for the team. We were really glad to have them all there during the Sahlen's Six Hour. It was great to have a fan base at the Glen this year," Will Nonnamaker stated.

Team Sahlen competes in the ROLEX Grand American Series with support from HRPWorld.com, TheRaceSite.com, Rembrandt Charms, TheRaceMarket.com, Kempthorn Auto Mall, UNICHIP, Lamin-X, RaceTech, and Grassroots Motorsports.
