< Back to News Home Zipper Interactive to Partner with Team Sahlen

Posted (03/29/2005) - Zipper Interactive, a Washington based gaming specialist, has recently signed on to support Team Sahlen during the 2005 season. Team Sahlen, based out of Massillon, Ohio, is a member of the Grand American Road Racing Association. With five cars in the Grand-Am Cup Grand Sport class and three cars in the ROLEX Grand American Grand Touring class, Team Sahlen is looking forward to including Zipper Interactive as an addition to their effort. This is their first partnership with a member of the interactive gaming industry.

Will Nonnamaker comments, "We are very excited to have Zipper Interactive become a part of our team. We are always looking for new aspects and ideas, and having a sponsor in another field will only help us to be more diverse. We've never had a sponsor that specializes in gaming technology, and are looking forward to a prosperous relationship with Zipper."

Based in Redmond, Washington, Zipper Interactive specializes in 3-D, real-time action, strategy and stimulation games. Established by Jim Bosler and Brian Soderberg in 1995, the company has created numerous high-quality games.

Leading designers in the company have previously worked to design and develop SIMNET, a realistic mission simulator used by the U.S. military and NATO. With this knowledge and background, Zipper is well balanced in the design and graphics, the creation and implementation, and also the on-line technology necessary to be a leader in this industry.

One of Zipper's biggest successes is SOCOM: U.S Navy SEALs. Released in 2003, SOCOM was one of the first PS2 on-line games. Comprising of three game types- demolition, suppression, and extraction, SOCOM's strategic play and excellent graphics quickly enticed players. The next year, Zipper released the sequel, SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs II, which boasted new weapons, additional multiplayer missions, and more than double the maps of its predecessor. Both games highlighted Zipper's expertise in military design and graphics, and catapulted the company into the mainstream gaming market.

Team Sahlen's Campaign for the 2005 race season will be presented with support from: Zipper Interactive, TheRaceSite.com, GOJO, HRPWorld.com, Hawk Performance, Kempthorn Auto Mall, UNICHIP, TheRaceMarket.com, Lamin-X, RaceTech, Grassroots Motorsports, Alcon, Racing Optics, and Holliday Canopy.
