< Back to News Home Team Sahlen Adds Autoeuropa Sponsorship and New Drivers for Santo Domingo

Posted (03/09/2005) - Massillon, Ohio - The Team Sahlen roster has expanded for the race at the Autodromo las Americas track in the Dominican Republic. Drivers with a fierce combination of experience and energy will heat up the Santo Domingo track vying for a podium finish.

Autoeuropa, S.A. will be joining Team Sahlen's quest for a podium finish as well. As Santo Domingo's leading Porsche dealer, Autoeuropa, S.A. will be in their first race as a partner for the intense Porsche team.

The most recent drivers added to Team Sahlen squad are Rafel Marte Alvarez and Victor Levy. Alvarez, who hails from the Dominican Republic, and Levy, from Venezuela, will be a welcome addition to the 2004 Grand-Am Cup Grand Sport championship team. Alavarez and Levy will be hitting the track in Team Sahlen's Autoeuropa, S.A. No. 41 car.

Blake Rosser and David Murry will be teaming up in the Team Sahlen No. 43 looking to land the black and red cars a one, two, or three spot. Rosser and Murry were paired earlier this year in Grand-Am Cup competition at the Grand-Am Cup 200 during the ROLEX 24 festivities.

As previously announced Victor Gonzalez will be gunning for a big win at his "hometown track" while teaming up with Will Nonnamaker in the Team Sahlen No. 44 car.

Driving once again in Team Sahlen's No. 42 car will be Joe Sahlen of Buffalo, New York. Sahlen and Nonnamaker shared a solid finish in the Grand-Am Cup 200 race at Daytona. Nonnamaker will be doing double duty this weekend.

In the team's No. 40 car will be Wayne and Joe Nonnamaker. Wayne placed fourth in the 2004 Grand Sport Drivers Championship while his dad, Joe, scored a podium at Barber Motorsports Park. The duo were also the 2003 Grand-Am Cup Grand Sport II co-champions.

"What a line up we have for this weekend," states Joe Nonnamaker. "Having our team in the Dominican Republic will be quite an experience for us. We are really excited about our drivers. Our crew has done an amazing job, as always, getting the cars prepped for this race. It's going to be hot down there but we will be ready!"

Team Sahlen competes in this year's Miller Grand-Am Cup 200 with participation from Speed Group International, Autoeuropa, S.A., HRPWorld.com, TheRaceSite.com, Hawk Performance, TheRaceMarket.com, Kempthorn Auto Mall, UNICHIP, Lamin-X, RaceTech, and Grassroots Motorsports.
