Sahlen's to present the 2003 & 2004 Grand-Am Cup Grand Sports Class Triple Crown Champions

Posted (01/08/2005) - Daytona International Speedway - Daytona Beach, Florida: For 2005, Sahlen's will be teaming up with Phoenix Promotions, the 2003 and 2004 Grand-Am Cup Grand Sports Team, Driver and Manufacturer Triple Crown Champions. Sahlen's and Phoenix Promotions are teaming up for their title defending 2005 Grand Am Cup Grand Sport effort, with all five of the team's Porsche 911 race cars. Sahlen's famous flag logo will be emblazoned across the striking Red, Black and Yellow racers. Sahlen's, a Buffalo, New York company, is owned by Joe Sahlen and has been a family business since its beginnings in 1869. Sahlen's, known for premium quality meat products, is a familiar name to Grand American Race Fans. Sahlen's has been the primary sponsor of Watkins Glen International's Sahlen's Six Hours of the Glen race held this past June, and the Sahlen's 200 held in August. For 2005, Sahlen's will return again as the Primary Sponsor of the Sahlen's 6 Hours of the Glen and the Sahlen's 200. Phoenix Promotions is owned by the Nonnamaker family and is based out of Massillon, Ohio. In 2004, the team's Grand-Am Cup Grand Sports campaign was presented by TheRaceSite.com. During 2003, the team's Grand-Am Cup Grand Sports campaign was presented by ORISON Marketing. The Team took not only the team championship in 2003 and 2004 but the Driver and Manufacturer's as well. Beyond the Grand-Am Cup, the team runs a three car Porsche GT3 effort in the Grand American ROLEX series. Pairing the Sahlen's name with the Phoenix Promotions team further emphasizes the family atmosphere that Sahlen's and the Nonnamakers foster in their corporate culture. "This is a truly great partnership opportunity for our team and drivers. Sahlen's has knowledge of what makes a good partnership work in Grand American and we are very pleased to be working with them," states Will Nonnamaker of Phoenix Promotions. The Phoenix Promotions team will continue with a full schedule this year in the Grand-Am Cup Grand Sport class. The team will travel all over North America competing primarily in the United States but also heading to Canada, and the Dominican Republic. "Having Sahlen's involved with our team this year will give us further leverage towards a successful season. We have worked extremely hard to bring about the champion status on our team and with Sahlen's on board we anticipate another successful year," stated Joe Nonnamaker. The Grand-Am Cup is a production based Sports Car Series with Endurance events of varied length. The Series is a support event to the premier Grand American's ROLEX Series. The Grand American Sanctioning Organization is entering its 6th season. It is owned by the France Family of NASCAR.
