Posted (11/05/2004) - Fontana, CA - TheRaceSite.com racing clinched their fourth consecutive title in Grand Am Cup competition this past weekend. TheRaceSite.com driver Craig Stanton also took his share of the trophies after winning the highly pursued driver championship in a tie breaker.

Stanton has been in a points battle with Powell Motorsports driver Terry Borcheller. Borcheller lead Stanton by seven points heading into the Barber race. Stanton then closed the gap with his first place finish at Barber to four points. Witnessing the lead changes of the Lexus 250 it was hard to tell who would take the driver trophy after the California race.

Stanton led off the race after taking the pole during qualifying. The No. 11 Powell Motorsports Cadillac took the lead with only ten laps down, however, the lead would not be held for long. The No. 91 Porsche and No. 11 Cadillac made contact causing the No. 11 car to pit with extensive damage. TheRaceSite.com No. 43 car regained the lead with twenty-four laps down.

David Murry jumped behind the wheel of the TheRaceSite.com Porsche 996 after sixty one laps to help the team's stronghold on a podium finish. Unfortunately, after in the car for only seventeen laps Murry noticed that he was having some problems with the No. 43 car. Murry pitted the car and the crew worked frantically to place it back in the race.

Eventually the effort of the crew paid off and the No. 43 was gunning for a spot on the podium. Although a podium was no longer in site, Stanton and Murry were able to finish the race ahead of the Powell Motorsports car. This finish placed Stanton in a tie with Borcheller for the driver's championship. The championship came down to the number of first place finishes for the drivers. Borcheller's only wins for the season came during the first three races of the year while being paired with Stanton. Borcheller then moved to the Powell team and Stanton went on to have three more victories with TheRaceSite.com Porsches.

In their best Grand Am Cup finish of the year drivers Will and Wayne Nonnamaker took their spot on the podium and clinched the Grand Sport class team championship trophy. The No. 44 car took second place during this past weekend's race at California Speedway. After many lead changes the No. 44 was able to maintain a top five position for the majority of the race. Will gained ground early in the race while Wayne jumped in to battle it out during the final laps.

TheRaceSite.com Racing took a total of six wins this season and twelve top five finishes. The Porsche 996's were solid next to the competition as were the team's drivers. Joe and Wayne Nonnamaker shared several top five wins and finally were able to claim two podium finishes here at the end.

"This was a really great race with everyone hitting it hard at the end. So many things happened that could have been detrimental to several teams but we hung in there and I am glad we did. This season has been very challenging and we were determined to make another championship season," stated Will Nonnamaker.
