Posted (10/05/2004) - Alton, VA - Craig Stanton and David Murry cruised past the checkered flag to take a first place finish this past Saturday at the VIR 250. This is the fifth race that Stanton and Murry co-drove TheRaceSite.com Porsche 996's this season. The win marks the fifth victory of the season for both Stanton and TheRaceSite.com Racing.

The No. 43 co-drivers built up momentum early on in the weekend with Stanton capturing the pole. The entire race was a joint effort by both Stanton and Murry. Stanton started in the No. 43 car and maintained the lead for the majority of his time in the car. Due to high pursuit of the Grand Sport class competition he fell to second shortly before a full course caution. During the caution Murry jumped behind the wheel of the Porsche 996 and quickly regained the lead.

Both Murry and Stanton are accomplished Porsche drivers. In addition to handling TheRaceSite.com Porsches they also compete in the American Le Mans series with Petersen/White Lightning Racing, another Porsche team. The VIR race allowed both men to demonstrate their ability to drive a Porsche.

"Craig did an excellent job running in the lead while still conserving brakes and car as much as he could during his stint. David got in at the end and did what we knew he could do, he sprinted to a victory over the Cadillac in a shootout," commented Wayne Nonnamaker of TheRaceSite.com Racing.

Stanton held the driver points lead up until two weeks ago at the second Homestead race when an unfortunate incident put him directly behind former co-driver Terry Borcheller. The team is confident that both Stanton and Murry will once again showcase their knowledge of Porsche racing in the upcoming races at Barber and California.

"We are now going to Barber Motorsports Park, a place where David instructs as part of his Porsche driving instructing. He has a lot of laps there and should be impossible to beat. Craig is only seven points behind Terry now with two races remaining and we feel we can make up that ground," added Nonnamaker.

Stanton is also confident in TheRaceSite.com Racing and the tracks he has yet to face during the 2004 season.

"We have some good Porsche tracks coming up and a Grand-Am Cup championship would mean a lot to me. This is going to be a great battle for all of us and the fans are going to get a terrific show for the rest of the season," Stanton stated.

Buddy Stubbs and Joe Masessa, also of TheRaceSite.com Racing brought in their best finish as co-drivers for the weekend. The co-drivers are continually improving their record on the track.

TheRaceSite.com racing defends their Grand-Am Cup Grand Sport title with support from HRPworld.com, HAWK Performance, Kempthorn Auto Mall, SpeedSource, SpeedGroup International, TheRaceMarket.com, North Jersey Dermatology Center, Buddy Stubbs' Harley Davidson, Grassroots Motorsports Magazine and 9 Magazine.
