Posted (08/11/2004) - Lexington, Ohio - TheRaceSite.com Racing fronted a four Porsche effort at the Mid Ohio 250 this past Sunday. The team's home track was filled with friends and family members to watch the black and red cars battle it out for the Grand Am Cup Grand Sport class.

It has been a very successful season for TheRaceSite.com Racing. Craig Stanton, who was unable to participate in the Mid Ohio Race, is currently first in driver points. The team itself has two top five cars in team points. Unfortunately luck did run dry at the Lexington, Ohio track.

It was a challenging race for the team with only two cars placed in the top ten at the starting grid. Joe and Wayne Nonnamaker were able to fight their way up to fifth place during one stint but problems in the pits caused the No. 43 car to move out of a top ten position.

The problems in the pits started with a fire due to a fuel spillage. Luckily, the quick response of the crew allowed only minimal damage to the car and it was able to rejoin the race. Due to this and other misfortunes, none of TheRaceSite.com cars finished in a top ten spot.

Drivers Joe Masessa and Buddy Stubbs were the first to cross the finish line for the team in the No. 42 car. Masessa and Stubbs have driven together for the past three Grand Am Cup races and have done well as partners. Both have had previous road racing experience with other teams and series. Masessa, owner of North Jersey Dermatology, has driven Porsches and prototypes. Stubbs, a Harley dealer from Phoenix, has participated in the 2000 and 2001 Ferrari Challenge.

In their first appearance in TheRaceSite.com Porsches were Dave Riddle and Kris Wilson. This was Riddle's first professional race as he made the trip all the way from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Wilson had previously driven with the team but never in the Grand Sport Porsches. He had driven with the team in 1994 with their Mazda MX 6 efforts.

In the No. 40 car were Emil Assentato and Nick Longhi who were participating in their first race with the team.

"We have had such a good season so far, this race was just one of those unlucky days. We have some time to make some adjustments before the next Grand Am Cup race. I am confident that what happened this weekend will not continue on for Homestead. This was the first time we didn't place two cars in the top ten all season long. Our team has been extremely consistent otherwise. We have a great crew and team behind these cars. We will be ready in September," commented driver Will Nonnamaker who did not drive in the Grand Am Cup race.

TheRaceSite.com racing will head to Miami, Florida for the Miami 250 on Saturday, September 11th. Visit www.TheRaceSiteRacing.com and catch up on their exciting season.

TheRaceSite.com's effort in the Grand Am Cup Grand Sport class is supported by HRPworld.com, HAWK Performance, Kempthorn Auto Mall, SpeedSource, TheRaceMarket.com, North Jersey Dermatology Center, Buddy Stubbs' Harley Davidson, Grassroots Motorsports Magazine and 9 Magazine.
