Posted (02/03/2004) - Daytona Beach, FL -- TheRaceSite.com Racing took home victory in the first Grand Am Cup race of the season at Daytona International Speedway. The team's #44 SpeedSource Porsche 996 driven by Craig Stanton and Terry Borcheller drove the car to victory for the team.

"We are thrilled to have started the 2004 season off the same way we started our 2003 Championship season, with a win," commented an ecstatic Mike Thomas, Crew Chief of the team's fleet of three Grand Am Cup Porsches. "The race was one of fuel strategy. We split our chances mid race and we splashed the #44 Porsche for fuel at the end of the yellow and left the #43 out there for track position hoping for more yellows. There were no more yellows and Terry ran to the end and the #43 had to splash for fuel."

For Stanton and Borcheller it marked their first win in their first race with the team and their first race as co-drivers.

"The Grand-Am Cup race was a great start to what I think will be a good year," remarked Stanton minutes after stepping off Daytona International Raceway's world famous victory podium. "The Nonnamaker/ TheRaceSite.com team has a lot of passion and focus. They know the race strategy of these events real well. Terry and I compliment each other in many areas to come up with, what I feel, is one of the best driver teams in the series. Terry and I have been friends for many, many years and this is the first opportunity that we have had to work together. So it is another goal that has been met on my list."

The team's #43 Porsche took home fourth place after a late race splash for fuel. Defending Champions Joe and Wayne Nonnamaker were sharing the car.

"Whether we win or one of our other cars win, the team still wins," commented Wayne Nonnamaker after the race. "We split our fuel strategy with the two cars and it was the #44's strategy that was the best for the race. Terry and Craig drove an excellent race and both got a well deserved win."

The team's third entry, the #40 Porsche 996, took home ninth place. Will Nonnamaker finished the car for Joe Massessa.

"Ninth place is a good start to the season," commented Nonnamaker. "Joe is new to our team this weekend but the entire team really enjoyed having him in our paddock. He drove a very good first stint. I think as the season progresses, Joe and I will be more and more in contention at every event."

The Grand-Am Cup Series will travel next to Homestead-Miami Speedway for the Grand-Am Cup 250, March 27-28. The Daytona 250 will be broadcast on SPEED Channel on Saturday, February 14 at 4 p.m.
